  • Easy assembly trick in this review Steel frame dog cot ordered medium big enough for a large dog
Size: Large Color: Blue
I read all the bad reviews and the worst thing they all said was it was horrible to put together. READ THIS FOR A TRICK TO PUT IT TOGETHER EASY. I know there are so many bad reviews but read THIS review before passing the steel framed bed by. I got the medium steel frame blue dog bed. It ships in a fairly small box. It came with all parts even an extra screw set. I opened it on my king size bed thinking I needed to study the instructions and it took less than 15 minutes to put together. All because of a trick someone else wrote in reviews. Now here is the trick. When putting it together as always look at the diagrams and read the details of instructions. But here it is in a nut shell. Lay out the parts like it says and shows in the diagram/instructions. Top of material surface side laying down. As in face down. Each peice of metal is numbered. There are two of each 1 thru 5. And the hardest part putting the metal together is making sure that the side with the dips in the screw holes are facing correctly. Put 1 in the center of each of the long sides between/with 2 and 3 at the ends. This is when it is important to make sure the "dipps" in the 2-1-3 and 3-1-2 metal rods on the long sides are facing correctly. In a few minutes your going to turn these long rods 90° degrees and the dips need to face the interior. So that they become legs of the cot. They slide easily together. Put one 4 and one 5 together (that becomes "A" in the instructions) this double straight one goes in the short ends. Turn the 4 legs 90° degrees they become the legs. Make sure all the holes with the dip is now pointed inward towards the middle of the cot. Now the real trick. Follow instructions of which washer thing or screw order. At the end of the metal "A" (the interior metal at the short ends),the thickest one needs to curve around the outer frame metal. Then on the outside of the frame put the locking washer onto the screw and put it thru into the metal rod of the "A" (short end peice). And repeat all around. BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN. the last one you put the screw into will be the toughest to do. You can make it lots easier by tightening a little at a time all around all 4 of them. That's all the trick is... do not tighten any of the 3 screws you put in place first. Only once all 4 are in and holding do you actually fully tighten it. I found that trick in someone else's review and it really did take 15 minutes or less to put it together. ... show more

  • Very good cat bed/chair/lounger, but needs a video
Size: Small Color: Brown
As an experiment, I purchased this cat furniture (small, brown) for my 3 cats. Arrived yesterday and was intensively and extensively examined by the gang. Each concluded that (1) it was great, and (2) it was their personal toy, not to be shared. So today I have ordered another of these loungers (small, grey) because it is well made, looks good, and my cats really like it (especially to sleep on at night). My cats are normal size and two could easily share this bed, but Chica got to it first for sleeping last night and no others were allowed (that might change in cold weather). AND YES, assembly was a real challenge! The instructions seemed either a bit sparse or a tad ambiguous to me, so naturally I discarded these and barged on ahead. The sides of the canvas rectangle are hemmed such that they form a tubular passage for the poles on each side. It's good for these to be snug (canvas wont sag as much), but the openings are tight. The long sides of the triangle are each supported by two poles that must be joined in the usual way (one pole has a more narrow end which then slips into the end of the other pole). However, the two poles can't be pre-joined before insertion into the hem tunnel because each pole is sharply bent at its end to form the legs upon which the furniture will stand. As a tip, I suggest you somehow firmly hold the canvas stretched out flat & straight to ease insertion of the pole end into the tunnel. You'll need hands #1 and #2 for that. Then with hands #3 and #4, firmly grip the pole, keeping it aligned with the tunnel, push forward hard and good luck. After success, open a can of cold beer and calm yourself. The best part is up next: inserting the pole with the narrow end into the other pole. Since this is done inside the hem (which is opaque and stiff) you can't see & only vaguely feel what you are doing. Just think back to 'spin the bottle' where the winners repair to a closet, which is completely dark, so you can't see those lips, and so must approach with great caution. For me, the only other tricky part was attaching the short side poles to the long side poles. This is done with threaded bolts (they call 'em screws) with spring washers and special plastic spacers (my term). Picture in your mind: in one hand holding the side pole pressed gently up against the end pole (perpendicular) in your other hand. The end of the end pole has a threaded hole in its end, into which will go the threaded bolt after it passes through pre-drilled holes in the side pole. So, (a) put the spring washer on the bolt (very first step) and (b) then insert the bolt through the pre-drilled holes in the side pole, and (c) now with the bolt protruding from the hole in the side pole, slip the special spacer over the bolt such that the curved surface of the spacer is flush with the roundness of the side pole, and the bolt now extends through the spacer where it is now free to join with the end pole. (d) While holding the end pole up against the bolt (now protuding from the spacer) gently push the poles together while turning (screwing) the bolt using the provided hex wrench. With luck, the threded bolt will engage with the threaded hole in the end pole, and all pieces will draw together tightly. CAUTION: my impression of the threaded pieces is that they are not very tolerant of even small angles of misalignment while screwing and the threads are not made of hardened steel. If misaligned, you will feel some resistence when you turn the hex wrench, but not all that much. If you persist, you can easily strip the threads. So be careful. Go slow and expect to have trouble especially in step (d) above, where 5 to 10 re-starts is normal. And by the way, it would really help to have 3 or 4 hands in step (d). Maybe you can shanghai a helper. Having read a few of the reviews for this cat furniture, it's clear that assembly is the big problem. My advise to the manufacturer is to create a 10-12 minute video that encounters all the tricky spots and presents blow by blow guidance with copious tips and cautions. An experienced mechanic might laugh at this, but the vast majority of customers will be very grateful. And finally, perhaps you may feel better if I tell you that, I got all the way through assembly only to notice that I had the canvas tarp upside down and had to dismantle the hardest part (attaching the poles with the bolts), rotating those side poles to face the right way and then re-doing all else that follows. ... show more

  • I love this, the dogs are undecided at the moment
Size: Small Color: Blue
I got tired of spending 20.00 every few months changing out the dogs bed. The beds would get smelly and gross and you cant clean them properly in the washer. I decided on this bed since I would be able to take it out and wash it down and hopefully save me some money. I absolutely love everything about it, my dogs are still undecided. I have a dachshund and a chihuahua that share the bed, and they are able to get on it with no ease. The part that I think they don't like is the lack of cushion. They are bougie and used to having more cushion beds than this one. ... show more

  • This bed is perfect for older dogs or dogs with arthritis, hip problems.
Size: Large Color: Grey
Beds like these displace a dog's weight so that they are not laying on their hips, or I think that's how it works. My 15 year old shepherd boxer mix loves these beds. She has two. A few years ago we bought one of these and immediately saw how they benefited her. It didn't take her as long to get up, and she slept a lot better because her hips were not bothering her. ... show more

  • My dog loves this bed
Size: Large Color: Brown
This is a really sturdy dog bed. My dogs love it. I live in Arizona and the sun beats everything up so we’ll see how long this one lasts. I usually get 2 seasons out of these beds but this brand looks much sturdier then the others that I’ve purchased. Easy to put together. Must watch the video so you know exactly the sequence for the assembly otherwise you won’t be able to complete the assembly. So far, very pleased with this bed. I have 2 large Labs and I purchased the large and they both fit on it. ... show more
