  • Philips SmartSleep Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light Review
Style: SleepMapper App Enabled
The Philips SmartSleep Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light is an absolute game-changer for my sleep routine. With its personalized sunrise and sunset features, it has significantly improved my mornings and evenings. Here's my everyday language review: This sleep and wake-up light from Philips is a must-have for anyone looking to enhance their sleep experience. The personalized sunrise feature gradually brightens the room, mimicking a natural sunrise, gently waking me up feeling refreshed and energized. It's like waking up to a sunny day every morning! In the evenings, the sunset simulation helps me wind down and prepare for a restful sleep. The light gradually dims, creating a calming atmosphere that signals my body to relax and prepare for bedtime. It's a peaceful way to transition into a good night's sleep. The SmartSleep Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light can be easily controlled through the Philips SleepMapper app, which allows me to customize settings and create personalized wake-up and sleep routines. The app is user-friendly and makes it effortless to set up and adjust the light to my preferences. I also appreciate the additional features this light offers. It serves as a bedside lamp with adjustable brightness levels, and it even includes soothing sounds and FM radio to further enhance my sleep environment. It's like having a mini relaxation station on my nightstand. The build quality of the light is excellent, and it blends seamlessly into my bedroom decor. The touch controls are responsive and intuitive, making it convenient to use without any hassle. Overall, the Philips SmartSleep Connected Sleep and Wake-Up Light has revolutionized my sleep routine. Its personalized sunrise and sunset features, combined with the user-friendly app control, create a soothing and energizing experience. If you're seeking a gentle and effective way to wake up and wind down, this light is a fantastic investment that will transform your mornings and evenings for the better. ... show more

  • Wife loves it
Style: SleepMapper App Enabled
We got to use one of these at a hotel we stayed in and my wife really liked it. She felt that it was easier to wake up with this alarm clock. The slow color changing light is great and gets bright. There are multiple alarm sounds but my wife is partial to the birds chirping. This model has the app connected to it and honestly I haven’t had any issues with it. It makes it quick and easy to set the alarm time, change the color of the light, etc. It connected to our WiFi network without any issues and connects through the app quickly. I don’t really use the other features in the app but the main things work well. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Nice but could be better
Style: Non-App Enabled
I have had this alarm for a couple of weeks now, and there are many things to like about it. There are also some things to like less. In general, design clearly took primacy here; I wish they had actually had people using this before market release. Obviously, this is also an almost outrageously expensive alarm clock, so if some of the negatives would affect you greatly, it's probably not worth it. As is, I'm keeping it. The good things: I'm not going to repeat what everyone has said already, only the ones that matter to me and that were improvements compared to my previous alarm clock. - it's handy to have an alarm clock and a bedside lamp in one (but see also below in the "Not so good" column). Spares some space. The main light is actually pretty strong; you can definitely read by it. - I use the FM alarm. The sound comes on gradually, and is relatively good quality. It also shuts off after an hour (which of course even my 20 yr old radio clock did, but just in case you were wondering). - Both the sunset and the sunrise programs are great and very customizable. I never thought I'd use the sunset program, but I do and it does help me fall asleep faster. And, having the light on by the time your alarm goes off is just nice. (The light shuts off together with the radio, after an hour.) - I found the menu relatively user-friendly, although see below about the lack of physical buttons. - The light of the digits is good -- it doesn't shine in your eyes at night but you can still see it (you can adjust the strength or shut it off completely). The not so good: - Most importantly, it would be *great* to have a physical button for the main light. As it is, you have to press two touch buttons to get to it, which takes a while, and more importantly, you have to actually look at the screen. You don't always want to look at the screen (or anything) when turning on your bedside lamp. - Speaking of physical buttons, I can imagine that it would also be nice to have one for the snooze button. I never use that, so can't really comment. - My almost 10-yr old phone-charging alarm clock already had a calendar feature, i.e., you could program different weekday and weekend wakeup times. It really doesn't seem like such a big deal, surprising that it's missing. It's a really useful feature. The same almost 10-yr old alarm clock also synchronized time automatically with my phone when charging, which is also useful. - Minor point: the sunset program is not *completely* gradual in terms of the sound fade-off. There are clearly audible "steps" (if you are sensitive to these kinds of things). Overall, it is clearly a nice clock, although I would say a bit too expensive considering the lack of attention to some details. It will be almost certainly an upgrade after most alarm clocks, so if that's what you need, I'd go for it. ... show more
