It's pronounced where the 'P' is silent. This company has been around for years, American, and I've heard from others how much they loved their dishes, so since I was bored with and old set from a different company I thought I would like to see what styles Pfaltzgraff has. I went with this seashell style, but I saw at least 10 different patterns from their website I would have liked to get. I wanted simple, no floral and something different. The glaze is a little different on each item, and that was exactly what I wanted, less manufactured looking. The dinner plates measure 10.5 inches, the bowls hold 25 ounces to the rim. Mugs are nice, and 7.5 inches for the smaller plates. I was very nervous about getting dishes shipped, but the box was heavy and extremely well packed. It came in a large box, then inside another large box. Then for each of the different items, dinner, mug, etc.. were then boxed with heavy paper in four different boxes. No chips no cracks and greatly appreciated the effort by the company to see everything was in good condition. No complaints, microwaved great, dishwasher, no problem. Nov2021 Update - After using these faithfully for 6 months, I have loved them with no problems. Microwave, dishwasher, no issues. However I did accidentally chip the edge of a luncheon plate (My fault dropping a mason jar on it) and I couldn't save it. Would love it if I could find a replacement, no luck, not even from their website. Still very happy with these dishes. ... show more

I love these beautiful Flamingo dinnerware set. That being said, there are quite a few imperfections similiar to what on would find a a "pottery store". For instance, the handles where they attach to the cup is not uniform nor smooth. The bottoms are do not have the shine finish and are a little rough. All this being said, I am super pleased with finding a product that is not gawdy and is actually elegant. I found matching silverware from Towle. And both products had great prices. So, very happy. The quality of the dish set is very nice. We like how each one is a little different, they look handcrafted. We had a similar set from a different company that we had for over 20 years, it was time for new ones. But, the other company was gone. These mix in well with a few items we kept from the previous set. Each piece is pretty much the perfect size for us too. I deducted one star because one of the bowls was broken in half inside the box upon delivery. Also note that the “16 piece set” is a place setting for 4 only (dinner plate, salad plate, mug, and bowl). We ordered another set to have 8 place settings total. So I found the “16 piece” a little misleading if you don’t read it all the way through. ... show more

I have been looking for a new set of everyday dishes for over a year, but living in Hawaii, I couldn't seem to find any dish sets that could be delivered to my address. When I saw these dishes, I really liked the subtle sand color, and the seashells around the border of the plate, made them perfect for my coastal lifestyle. I was happy when my order went through, but even happier when the dishes arrived a week early! They are gorgeous!
