Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a budget-friendly, versatile coop that's easy to set up and suitable for small flocks or even alternate uses, this might be a good choice. Bear in mind that you may need to invest in additional modifications to enhance its durability and weatherproofing, especially if the coop will be exposed to harsh elements. Consider the size and breed of your poultry (or pets) before purchasing to ensure it meets your space requirements.

  • Easy to Assemble
Color: Red
I bought one of these coops a couple years ago and attached it to a dog kennel as a run. We had to modify it a bit at the time - added hinges to the roof and added wood to the door frame to allow it to fit the end of the dog kennel. It worked great until our chicken burned it down (she knocked her heat lamp down in the middle of the night). Don’t worry… the chicken lived to tell the story. The coop, however, was a pile of ash and some screws in the morning. Since I had already modified the dog kennel for this particular coop, I bought another of the same style. I was pleasantly surprised that the new design now has hinges and supports so the roof can be opened (the old one did not, which seemed a problem for cleaning, hence why we added hinges ourselves). Also, the old one came unpainted, so I painted it with house paint. It was cute because it matched our house, but it also added to the prep and assembly time. This time, I ordered the red and white painted one. It’s very cute. A coat of sealer overtop would probably make it last a little longer, but it’s fine for me. I figure I’ll need to replace it about every 3 years anyway (the roof material starts to break down and flake apart after awhile). I was also very pleased with how easy this was to assemble. It maybe took me an hour by myself. I still need to modify it slightly to be able to attach it to the dog kennel, but that shouldn’t take long. If you want something easy to assemble with great functionality that’s ready to use right away, this is a great little coop. We’ve had up to six chickens at a time sharing this one, and they loved it, too. It’s not snake proof as we found a snake in there on rare occasions, but the raccoons never figured out how to open it. ... show more

  • Cute, affordable, and what we needed. Not weatherproof tho in my opinion!
You do get what you pay for, and with this coop that comes with both good and bad. The obvious pros are that it is absolutely adorable, and a perfect size for the 3 ducks we needed to House. In my area there are not many options besides getting an ugly dog house, paying way too much for a poor quality coop, or having a handmade coop for $1000+. So after reading reviews about many coops online I went for this option. Upon opening it I was impressed with the look, it’s even cuter in person. The material is thinner but not entirely poor quality. We did have one item broken upon arrival, and after contacting the company, they were prompt to respond and are sending a replacement part at no charge to me. So customer care is a big part of the 4 star rating. The flooring went in with some difficulty, it’s a super tight fit- so I don’t see myself utilizing taking it in and out many times for cleaning. I also do not think this would last long without some protection from the elements. Our house is in a pen with a metal roof over it, so it will be protected, otherwise I would have sent it back. It wouldn’t last the sometimes harsh Indiana weather on its own for very long. So 4 stars because it’s perfect for the additional protection we were seeking in our duck pen. They easily go in and out, and some parts meant for chickens were easy to leave out to make it easier for the ducks. I left the roof unattached for easy cleaning in the future. It was a simple process to put together besides the flooring issues, but some slight hammer tapping and pressure got them in thankfully. I am pleased overall and I know our little ladies are too! ... show more

  • Chicken coop turned Fancy Feral Motel!
Color: Wine Red
We’re using this coop for a FERAL KITTY HOME inside of a barn. It went together very easily and of course is sturdy enough for chickens. However since we’re repurposing it, we would have liked to have seen as lightly wider wood piece under the floor boards so the flooring could be a bit more secure for the weight of young cats. Short of doing that, we just used Gorilla glue along the wood that the floor boards rest on, and it solved the problem just fine. We did air everything out for two or three days to rid of any strong wood or glue scents. For more insulation from cold, we did a few extra things. First, we used extra some extra pieces of flooring with rubber backing that we happened to have, over the top of the coop wood. This took out any floor draft between the slats. Then to be sure it was insulated even a bit more, we used a roll of inexpensive rubbery shelf paper (like you use for open wire shelving in a garage.) Next, we had an mini-crib foam pad we weren’t using—fit perfectly! We covered that with super thin carpet roll (used for shelving) and cut it with scissors to just larger than the mattress and used some duct tape to keep it in place. Looks awesome and is a nice place for a cat to lie down on in the summer! But to be snuggly in winter cold, we added some large shoe boxes with body-heat reflective Sherpa type blankets (Amazon) and a (Walmart) type Sherpa throw tossed over it and around the boxes. This should be plenty, washable, and especially protected inside the barn, to keep any cats warm, while giving the family room to have space of their own. The little side box area is nice because we removed the divider so it’s like a den. If it seems they’re still not warm enough in very bad cold I have a heating pad made specifically for cats/ dogs with chew proof cord and cover, and an auto turn-off if it should somehow get too warm or spike. But honestly, I’m pretty sure we won’t need it. Having the two entries is nice in case they feel trapped, but this is one family of ferals so they are not at odds with other cats or animals or territory. Having just one entry is probably ok. We’re using the one on the end so it stays warmer everywhere else. Another idea we had to make it completely free if we had needed to, was to glue those 3” free samples of flooring and carpet (you get at DIY stores) on the floors and walls. But we happened to have almost everything so it worked out. I wish they’d just come inside, but since they’re afraid to, this is the best idea I could think of to make winter warm. ... show more

  • Worth the price BUT..
Color: Wine Red
For the price that it is, it is worth it. I’ve had it for two years now and the nesting box completely fell apart this fall.. and the door with the ramp got waterlogged within the first year. But even with that being said, my chickens don’t sleep in it so it’s done more than well as their nesting box; we took apart the nesting box on the side completely and put it inside the coop instead covering the hole with a piece of wood. So good cheap coop start. Also not meant for bigger chickens if they’re gonna be sleeping in it ... show more
