  • Great product, I bought a second one
Size: Sofa - 20 Inches Tall Color: Tan
I'm very pleased with this product, it greatly exceeded my expectations. I have a small little shih tzu, about 15lbs. He's 10 years old and because of his older age he can no longer jump up onto beds anymore. He tries to jump onto the bed and then stands by the bed crying for me to pick him up, it's the saddest little thing. These steps are awesome and completely fixed that problem. My dog's so happy he can be more independent and come and go as he pleases by himself again. It's a nice looking product and I would have no problem leaving them out in the living room or when company comes over. They feel sturdy and stable. I'm not afraid they're going to collapse at any moment and my dog is comfortable using them. They come with little sticker grip pads for each step which makes it easier for him to use. The height is just fine and fits up against the side of my bed nicely, and my dog has no problems getting onto the bed from them. However, it is a tight fit so if that's a concern for you at all then I recommend measuring the height of the steps up against the height of your bed. The price of these steps is one of it's key features and I really don't think you'll find anything better in the same price range. These stairs compare more to others in a higher price range and blow most of the cheaper ones away, so I definitely recommend this product as a great value for your money. I've ordered a second one to use in the other bedroom. Extra perk: These stairs are made in AMERICA. Note about other pet stairs: I bought my dog another pet stairs before these and I really, truly, honestly would not recommend them to anyone. I won't name exactly which ones they are but... they're sold on Amazon and are smaller and cheaper than these stairs. I was disappointed with them right out of the box and disliked them for several different reasons. They were short, cheaply made, and unstable. They would wobble constantly and the plastic "base" of the steps partially collapsed a couple times. They're advertised to support around 60 lbs but it was a real stretch for my little guy. The entire product is just a flimsy snap in plastic base with a removable fabric cover. Do NOT waste your hard earned money on those steps! I wish I would have just paid the extra little amount of money for these stairs in the first place. You get what you pay for and it's definitely worth it to pay a little bit more for these. ... show more

  • Elder dog LOVES.
Size: Bed - 25 Inches Tall Color: Tan
The love of my life has grown into his old age and has started to struggle to jump up onto the bed. The vet said he needed stairs now because all it would take is one wrong foot landing and...well, yeah. We got the stairs. haha. I wasn't sure which ones to get because he's large cat size haha. I was afraid these stairs might be to small for him or even too big for the small room, but they don't take up too much space and he does just fine with them. They are also super sturdy and I feel very comfortable my baby is safe when using these. I also thought training him to use the stairs would be super difficult. I mean he's 12 and he's been jumping up for 12 years. But treat motivation definitely works. For those of you who may be struggling, this is how I trained my elder dog to use the stairs and he had a blast learning: The very first time to get him up the stairs I had to set him on the steps and get him to realize that they were steps. Once he realized what they were (5 mins) i lined each step with treats. I did this maybe 3 times and then I started holding one treat at the top. He would try to jump up but i would shift my weight to claim the space and encourage him to come up again hoping he'd try the stairs. after a minute or two if he was still confused I would tap the top of the stairs and he'd bound up them to get his treats and lots of praise. I did the same for down i'd toss a treat on the floor and claimed the space around the stairs so it was his option. After about 2 days Draven had totally got it that if he wanted a treat he had to walk up the stairs which is when I reduced how frequent he got the treats so he didn't grow to expect it and relied more on praise. The other training problem nobody really mentions (and why i'm being so detailed) is I sleep on the side opposite his stairs. So the problem became how do I get him to remember to go back around the bed to get up the stairs on the other side. How I started was (with the stairs at the bottom left of the bed I claimed less and less space at the foot of the bed so that he got used to me pointing to the stairs from a distance while holding a treat or saying "no" when he tried to jump up on the bed or if he did jump up before he could get his treat i had him walk down the stairs and back up them and then rewarded him (so he didn't get discouraged but understood if he wanted the treat he had to use the stairs). Eventually I was able to sit on the right side of the bed and use voice commands and hand gestures for him to remember the stairs. The cutest part was getting him to remember the stairs when he was on the bed and i dropped a treat on the floor and he had to remember to turn around and use the stairs when he was excited af. He'd want to jump and I'd tell him no and he'd stop mid action haha a couple times I had to gently aim him in the direction of the stairs, but eventually he got it (and by eventually I mean a few tries over a couple days). I don't know if this will work for you but if you do try, I hope your dog decides it's as much of a game as Draven did. We both had a lot of fun. It literally took me like a week to get him to understand to use the stairs, and another week for him to remember they were there and use them of his own accord with no incentive. We're on week three and he's fully conditioned to using the stairs (but he still gets treats sometimes for doing it just cuz i love my smart little boy). ... show more

  • Great quality, good for small dogs
Size: Sofa - 20 Inches Tall Color: Gray
My 12 & 13.5 yr old dogs weigh about 26lbs & 30lbs. They will not use these steps. I thought they would be helpful for them to use rather than jumping up and down from our bed. I tried to train them to use the steps using tons of positive energy couragement and treats to nearly no avail. The smaller, 25lb dog did go up and down the steps twice, but only with lots of treats and encouragement. My slightly larger, 30 lb dog found the stairs to be way too unstable for him and he shook the stairs considerably with his nervousness and absolutely refused to try moving on the very shaky steps. My 15 lb, fat, 15 yr old, very lame cat uses the stairs everyday and needed no training or coaxing whatsoever! I do like that the stairs have little pressed boards which slide into sleeves on each step to make the steps more sturdy. These steps are probably only good for pets about 20lbs or less, or ones who are much more courageous than ours. The width of these steps really needs to be much wider for them to be more stable for heavier pets; like twice as wide as they currently are. They are so narrow they just aren't stable for even my 25 lb dog. They arrive vacuum sealed and immensely compressed. The stairs very quickly expand to their full size, but will be very wrinkled for a couple days. I have attached some photos. ... show more
