  • Good little heater
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
This is a good little heater. It's helped me keep my flock warm during cold snaps and even helped keep little chicks warm (with additional heat source) Easy to just wipe the surface clean with a wet wipe or damp cloth. Doesn't get so hot that it presents a fire hazard which is great, and produces just enough ambient heat that it can stave off the brisk temps in smaller insulated areas. However, if you leave it on non-stop like I did it will seemingly lose some of its efficacy. The maximum heat output dwindles with constant use. My first year I ran it practically all winter. By the end of winter I could tell the max heat output was not what it was out of the box. Now I use it more sparingly and as a secondary supplemental heat source but it still works great. ... show more

  • Does the job
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
We have 3 chickens in a 3x6 uninsulated elevated coop with the entry opening in the bottom. One of our chickens is apparently not a cold hardy variety, and with temperatures recently dropping to single digits with below zero wind-chills (very cold for where I live), this came in very handy. As others said, it's not going to pump out heat like a space heater, but radiates heat in its general vicinity. It probably increases the overall temperature in the coop by 20 degrees, as others have noted, but the chickens can also stand next to it and warm up if they get cold. It must have worked good enough, as I didn't notice any frostbite on their combs or wattles and they laid just fine during the sold snap. Depending on your coop setup, installation can be tricky, but if you have chickens then you're probably handy enough to figure it out. I made a wood bracket from 1x2s that attaches to the provided holes and then just hung the bracket from the wall with wire. It just kind of dangles there, so this spring I'll probably mount the bracket to the wall permanently so I can still take the heater out in the warmer months. Running electricity to it can also be a challenge, depending on your setup. I had to run an extension cord to mine, but was able to hang the cord from the coop ceiling with some screw hooks and lucked out that the connection was in an area I could conceal it. The chickens don't seem to mess with the cord or the unit, itself, but it will inevitably get poop on it, which will get baked on by the heater. I'm not worrying about keeping it too clean other than keeping big chunks off of it. Overall it's a good purchase. I recommend anyone with backyard chickens who lives where it can get into the teens and single digit temperatures have something like this on hand. ... show more

  • Great but not perfect
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
This gets really really hot. I have chicks in a brooder and it’s turned all the way down and I still worry. It’s actually bigger than I estimated so I do need a bigger area for my set up. I can see how this will be beneficial in hahah winters even in outside coops or other livestock. Not ideal for ducks I’m not sure they’re shenanigans, water, splashing and their zoomies would do well with direct heat like this so I stuck with a lamp for them. ... show more

  • Purchased Dec 2020 and still loving it
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
Bought to heat my 8x5 coop, it does great. On 35 degree nights we turn the control half up the chickens and ducks are perfect in the morning. Many reviews say it doesn't get warm or hot. This is made to radiate heat off of the front plate, give it time to warm up, just a few minutes, and it will radiate heat. This gives heat safely for the elements it is around such as hay, shavings and wood. I love mine so much that I am ordering another one today for my pig. ... show more

  • Doesn't work well
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
Once it is outside in a coop it is no more than just warm to the touch, and does not radiate any heat to warm the coop.

  • Needs Improvement
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
It does work. It's super easy to install. That being said: #1) it needs a dial that you can tell how high you are turning it... 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. This unit simply has a dial that clicks when you turn it on and you have no idea how high your turning it or how hot it will get/is getting. #2) needs to have some sort of readout on the "screen" as to the temp it's firing at. Again, no way to tell what you're doing. I hooked this to one of those OUTLETS that turns on at 32 and off at 45 so as not to overheat the coop. Good concept. Safer than a heat lamp. Needs some imporvement to be a 5 star product. I gave it 3 because I needd to buy another device to control it. ... show more

  • Recieved a dud but seller is amazing with replacement
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
UPDATE: seller was absolutely wonderful in sending a replacement coop heater after they reached out on their own after they saw my review. 10/10 for service and ease of them sending a replacement. I have high hopes that the first one stopping working was one time event Ordered April 26 today is May 8th and it has stopped working that's including a few days for delivery since Amazon is slow. Horrible waste and now I'm without a heater for my chickens ... show more

  • This heater is terrific for pets
Pattern Name: Temp Control- 11.81''x15.74''
We got this heater for our dogs insulated house to keep him warm in the coldest winter weather. He was a farm dog before his owner decided to get rid of him so he likes the outdoors. When the temps started getting in the single digits we looked into doghouse heaters then chicken coup heaters. We have a thermometer to keep track of the temp in his house, and after installing this in his 4x6 house it was put at highest temp and it doubled the temp in his house within an hour then tripled the temp by morning. He's nice and toasty. ... show more
