This tool is fantastic because it handles every step of preparing an avocado: splitting, pitting, and slicing. The stainless steel pitter is incredibly efficient, removing the pit with a single twist. I love that I can get perfectly sliced avocado pieces with minimal effort, and the comfortable non-slip grip makes it easy to handle even when my hands are a bit slippery. One thing to note is that the avocado needs to be ripe for the tool to work best. When it is, the slicer lifts the fruit out in seven perfect pieces every time. Cleaning up is a breeze since it's top-rack dishwasher safe. It feels very durable, and I can see it lasting a long time in my kitchen. If you eat avocados, you NEED this! Seriously has been the best kitchen gadget we've had! It makes cutting avocados incredibly easy and taking the seed out easy as well (no more hitting the seed with a knife to get it out). It's sharp enough to get the job done but not enough to cut your hands. It's also comfortable and easy to use. Advice for cleaning is to clean it right after you're done, otherwise it's a lot harder to clean when the avocado has dried. Great kitchen tool for a great price! ... show more

This OXO Good Grips 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer so completely outperforms every other avocado tool that we have bought multiples of this one. We own more than one at all times, so that if one is in the dishwasher or in our kid's rooms, we still have one that is clean and ready. The plastic blade doesn't crack or split the pit. The pit claw works every single time and doesn't strip out. And the slicer makes convenient wedges for sandwiches or for blending into guacamole. It works well for cutting around the avacado and getting the pit out very efficiently. The scoop/slicer works well when the avacado is not overly ripe. Nice tool and good value.

Slicing the avocado and removing the pit - fantastic! Both work wonders, so I am happy about it. But the plastic part that is supposed to remove the avocado half from the peel and slice it does not work at all, unless the avocado is so far from ripe it's not that great to eat. Photo shows to the left the avocado removed and sliced with the tool - you can see it gets mushy and unappealing - on the right, two halves removed with a spoon and sliced with a knife. So, basically the tool would be perfect either if the plastic cutter would have been absent, or if it had metal little blades instead of plastic to slice through the flesh. ... show more
