  • Great!
Color: Silk Gold
Oh my goodness, this silk gold PLA filament is absolutely magical! I've been 3D printing for years, but I've never had a material that makes my prints look this luxurious. The moment I pulled my first print off the bed, I couldn't stop staring at how the light plays off the surface - it literally looks like it's made of metal! I've been having so much fun printing decorative vases and custom jewelry stands that actually look worthy of displaying nice pieces. One of my favorite prints was a dragon statue I made for my nephew's birthday - the way the scales shimmer in the light made it look like something from a high-end collectibles shop. The consistency of the filament is remarkable - I've gone through almost the whole spool without a single clog or jam, which is pretty impressive for specialty filament. It prints beautifully at standard PLA temperatures, so I didn't have to spend ages tweaking my settings. The surface quality is just outstanding - minimal layer lines even at 0.2mm, and they almost disappear completely at 0.12mm. I worried it might be finicky with complex designs, but it handled my detailed prints like a champ. The dimensional accuracy has been spot-on - I printed some interlocking pieces for a jewelry box, and everything fits together perfectly. Even my printer-skeptic spouse was impressed by how "un-plasticky" the prints look. Yes, it's a bit pricier than regular PLA, but for anything decorative or display-worthy, it's absolutely worth it. After using this, I've basically retired my regular gold PLA - there's just no comparison in terms of the final look. I had a friend commission some awards for a local gaming tournament after seeing my prints, and the recipients couldn't believe they were 3D printed. The spool came well-packaged with no tangles, and the included clear instructions helped me dial in my settings quickly. ... show more

  • Lovely light brown.
Color: Brown
This filament is the brown I used for Grogu's robe; aside from being a nice color on its own, the shade goes very well with the filaments from Sunlu's Meta line (I used "apple green" and "pink" in this print). Overture at its normal price is a bit expensive for me, but on sale it was a great deal. It prints well on my Bambu Lab A1 Mini using Bambu Studio's "generic PLA" profile, though (at least when printing with a .4 mm nozzle at a .16 mm layer height) I had to increase "top Z" distance from .16 mm to .2 mm to make the supports easier to remove. For this print, I supported the robe under the collar and under the raised arm, but I couldn't find a way to support the cuff on the lowered arm in a way that let me remove the support without snapping off his middle finger; I was pleased to find this filament did quite a respectable job on the overhang even so (see pics). To be clear, I did support the fingertips, just not the cuff in front or behind them. I defintely didn't get a ruler, build surface, or opaque bag like some reviewers did; packaging must have changed sometime in the last five years. I really appreciate the thoroughness of the spool sticker in giving not only the recommended printing temperatures, but also the recommended print speed and empty spool weight. Some brands of filament don't list spool weight anywhere, meaning you have to eyeball whether there's enough filament left on a roll to finish a print. Ugh. I also like the fact that the spools are cardboard, since 3d printing creates enough waste already. (Yes, PLA is theoretically recyclable, but you can't recycle it at most municipal recycling facilities.) However, it's my understanding that cardboard doesn't necessarily play nice with certain printers in which the roll rests on a surface rather than being suspended from a bar through its middle; I can't speak to whether the "upgraded reinforced edges" Overture touts fix that issue. ... show more

  • clean and easy
Color: White 3kg-1 Pack
Overture has always made great filament. Sometime you need to pay a little more for good PLA as not all filament is made equally between brands and there are some very cheap brands.

  • Prints great
Color: Silk Gold
The filament printed great on a large print of awards I did. The print took 56 hours and not a single issue with clogging. I would love to give it 5 stars, but the luster isn't as good as the normal brand I use, that couldn't get to me in time to get the product made before the event. However, this is a great filament to print with. This came out looking more dull than brilliant...but did have enough of the shine to use and get the product to the end customer. I will order other colors and try them out soon. ... show more

  • Smooth and Reliable
Color: Fresh Red
I've been buying lots of PLA filament recently, and this one is definitely one of the best. This one doesn't jam at all, it comes out of the nozzle smoothly. I haven't had a single problem with this one, it is extremely reliable. It also fits in the AMS and doesn't shift or anything. For reference, I use a bambu P1S. ... show more

  • Worse than trash
Color: Silk Gold
This is the worst filament I’ve ever used. I’ve spent more money on replacing hot ends in my Ender 5 S1 than I care to admit. This stuff turns into a rock randomly. You can visually inspect the spool and see voids and discolorations. I don’t know why I keep trying to run it. I have used MAYBE 10m of filament total and now it’s in the trash. I haven’t come up with a way to recover a hot ends once this filet turns it into a melted brick. Can’t clean it from the top or bottom with heat. Can’t break it free outside of the printer (and I’ve tired, even with a heat gun). Give this filament to your worst enemies as a prank to ruin their printer. Just ordered ANOTHER hot end. ... show more
