While you are using it there are often these clicks and the light goes on and off. WE have used our little single burner for alot of things... alot -- and it has Performed BEAUTIFULLY!!!! The basement apartment does not have a cooktop and --granted we do not do alot of cooking --- when we need to pot/pan cook.... this beautiful thing has been a champ -- (in other words its not just able to cook well --- it excels) (alot of our cooking is actually done in a Gourmia) I do not notice any noise -- its compact for a "kitchen area of less than a 2x6 counter -- easy to clean, as long as you do not let it sit too long to clean it The cord might be too short for some -- but for us.. we dont see an issue ... show more

I was concerned because there was no packing material in the box.. I pointed out some missing paint around the burners. It might have been a returned item. The burners are small sized but they do the job I need them too, there is a light indicating the burner is on but no "off" on the knob so I make sure it's unplugged when I'm done using it.. I think since my kitchen range quit. It works for cooking and boiling water I use it every morning for a couple hours. I would not use it for canning because of the size of burners. I gave it a 4 star because of how it was sent to me and the scratches, not the performance.. ... show more

I've been through other coil portable electric stove tops, infrared-- or whatever it's called--(that use a lot of electricity1200 watts or more and do not heat faster. The one I have but don't use actually takes much longer to heat the same 5 qrt pit of soup.), and the iron top ones (these are great when they work, but lack the finesse of heat regulation, and take longer to cool off). This 1k watt stove works perfectly. It heats up large 5 quart pots and you have to lower the temp to a 2 or so to keep a good simmer going. This is the first one I've owned that has that finesse in heat regulation. It's easy to store, and I prefer the stainless steel appearance. My only complaint is that it is a pain to clean. The coil is not moveable, so getting under it to clean overspills is a major pain. ... show more

I made the mistake of putting it on high. It gets way hotter than you'd think for something so small and lightweight!

It just mauls labels on cans, and yes at my age i know how to use a can opener. You need the knife sharpener bc that's how desperate you'll be to open the can. Wish I'd have read the reviews.
