Because up at my cabin, with limited Gigs on my wifi router, this thing, (even with low setting) picks up ever moth, fly, bird and hummingbird that flies by---------you think that is good? Well, now imagine it uploading to the web and crushing your available Gigs available for other stuff. I disconnect it most the time and turn on when I want to see something. I love these cameras! The quality is just great! I love the two way communication they have and night vision is excellent! I have purchased five within a few months span and have been using them for over one year now. They are excellent for inside my home and outside with harsh weather conditions, very durable I would say. I recently had one of my cameras stop working on me after a few months. I did get in contact with Wansview through email and the communication with them was excellent. So fast and easy, always there to help with my issue and always a response within less than 24 hours. They helped me with the technical issues I was having and sent me a replacement for my camera. I always tell friends and family about my cameras and how they work amazing for me. Great camera - easy to setup and operate from my phone. Nice app too. It did however take me some time to get the camera working with my Synology NAS system (DS 420j) Surveillance Station. The issues were on the Synology side, not the camera side. I just couldn't get the app to work properly with the camera - not too surprising since it isn't officially on the supported camera list. Anyway - camera worked great until recently when it would stay stuck in infrared mode and it wouldn't let me move it with the phone app. Folks at Wansview were great - getting a replacement soon. I really can't blame Wansview - I have a W5 from a few years earlier and it continues to work great. In short - great cameras. ... show more

I have all Wansview cameras from different generations. This latest one I would say has the best quality for it's picture. Still not that great when you zoom in on a screen shot, but good enough that I was able to see enough vehicle characteristics to turn someone in for dumping in front of my house. The software for the iMac needs improvement, it freezes and you have to refresh it every once in a while but it does good on the iPhone app. I watch more on my computer though so would love it if they would improve that more. Customer service is really good. They respond pretty fast and will work with you till you are satisfied. ... show more

I find the camera quality in 2K over wifi to be surprisingly good,and through an exterior wall and about 30 feet from the router it still works pretty well! An option to encase the camera in a one-way mirror dome to make it less obvious which way it's facing would be a nice touch I think. The motion detection seems to work well at detecting motion, but the notifications take a while to arrive, for example when I leave my apartment it doesn't send me the motion notification that my leaving would trigger until I'm a solid block down the street. Something to keep in mind if you were banking on this particular feature. Also important to note that there is a monthly subscription fee for this camera service or you need an SD card, there are certain limitations with either mode but if you just want to view a live camera it works without either ... show more

I must say, this camera works better than the other more common-and better known-expensive security cameras being used in my home. Extremely sensitive motion sensor. I bought this camera to monitor my basement. I have to go outside to enter it but now I can sit in my easy chair and see everything that goes on down there. I have a very old house, and you never know what is going to happen next. This camera does a great job as it can pan and tilt, giving me a complete view of what is going on. The resolution is excellent (side note, I was able to find a bottle of weed killer because I could see the label on cam). It was easy to set up the cam, put in 4 screws, plug it in, and I was off and running. I have 4 other cameras from this company and I love them all.
