    • Disappointing Performance – Falls Short of Expectations
I had high hopes for the Osoeri Smart Bird Feeder with Camera, but it fell short in many areas. While the idea of a 2K HD camera and AI bird identification is great, the execution was disappointing. The camera often failed to connect properly, and the motion detection was inconsistent, missing birds or triggering for no reason. The solar charging feature didn’t work reliably, leading to frequent manual recharging. The DIY add-ons were flimsy and didn’t add much value. I've been feeding birds for years but this is my first bird feeder with a camera. I love this feeder because it is made with good weatherproofing, was easy to setup, has options for feeding seeds/nuts/nectar/fruits/fluids and is large enough to hold a few days worth of food yet small enough to maneuver easily. I think the light green color of the unit is perfect because it won't look faded after being out the the sun and its light color won't transmit heat to the food or camera. The setup instructions are excellent; I was able to get the unit setup quickly. Because it listed the correct voltage output of the adapter needed for charging the unit, the unit charged fairly quickly. It was easy to download and setup the app: The instructions with the unit I received directed me to download VicoHome Security Camera. At first, I was a little concerned about a generic security camera app working with my device but setup worked perfectly and I love how I could name the bird feeder camera whatever I wanted and access the bird feeder camera as easily as I would access any other security camera connected to the app. I'm very happy that the app offers a free tier that has all the features I need. The bird feeder camera works fine with or without the AI bird identification function, which is a paid service after the 30 day free trial. The bird feeder would not be "Squirrel Proof" if I simply used the provided strap or screws to mount the feeder without any physical barrier to prevent a squirrel from climbing up or jumping down onto it. If a squirrel gets on the feeder, it can easily eat the food in the open tray. If the squirrel wants to get into the hopper, it can easily chew through the plastic. So, to obstruct squirrels, I mounted the feeder to a feeder pole with a metal squirrel baffle. I really appreciate how the product provided a mounting bracket template. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I'm actually a little surprised that the wifi on this device works in the yard without any issues. My router is in the basement so it is extremely difficult to get signal in the yard. The fact that the camera hasn't so much as hiccuped is impressive. This charming feeder is well thought out. The camera angle catches visitors easily, the motion sensor doesn't go off for no reason(though a squirrel on the ground has set it off a few times), it has quite a few accessories, and many installation options. It even has an optional solar panel so you don't have to bring the camera inside to charge it. Convenient might be a good description of this feeder as a whole. There is a water dish, two humming bird feeders with silicone inserts to prevent insects from getting in(both feeders have a backup insert), two fruit forks, and many locations to insert your accessories. On top of that, you can install your feeder sitting on a flat surface, permanently mount it with the mounting bracket that it comes off of easily when you need to clean it, or temporarily strap it to a pole or tree. The app that comes with this camera is quick to install and easy to use. There is a live feed option for you if you want to sit around and watch. If you turn notifications on, it will ping you whenever your bird feeder gets a visitor, which can be a lot. However, the app stores up to 20 second snippets of activity every time it is activated, so you don't need to be actively watching if you want to see birds. This app keeps your snippets for up to three days for free or 60 days if you pay for an additional storage service which also increases the maximum snippet length to 3 minutes. If you're not a fan of this kind of thing, the camera has a microSD card slot in the top. The only thing that I'm worried about with this feeder is the thin bars that make up the sitting area. So far, it has been handling squirrels jumping up and down quite well. Even Adam, who is a well known and extremely fat squirrel that visits us often, has not broken them. I am taking full advantage of the many installation options available to test out locations in my yard. One day I will defeat Adam and the birds can eat in peace. This product is a nice addition to the world of smart bird feeders, with its 2K camera, which automatically captures footage when motion is detected in front of it - a feature which can be activated with the free one month subscription to the service, after which time, a fee is applied, per month. This would be a great gift to nature and bird lovers, for the Christmas holiday season, or, simply as a gift to yourself, as a bird lovers. This product is a nice, competitive alternative to more expensive bird camera feeders in the same category, with features that match more pricey models.
