The media could not be loaded. So, first off, it’s such a pretty design, and easy to fill, and sturdy. However, the product picture is photoshopped and misleading. The birds in that picture would have to be 2 inches long! For real birds, the railing to stand on is much too small. I have seen cardinals use mine, but a blue jay just tried and— bless his heart— he kept trying over and over but he was just too heavy! He finally got a bite by hanging on the bar like doing a chinup and stretching his neck forward, but after that he gave up to pursue easier food. If you are looking to feed finches this would be great! On the upside, no crows are going to bully all the other birds at the feeder. And no squirrels have gotten to mine (and I have a ton of squirrels…) Update: OK, I’m updating to 4.5 stars (rounded to 5) — cardinals are visiting regularly, and cute little finches love it. When leaving seed out on surfaces, the finches never seemed to feel safe enough to come eat. I hung this feeder high up, from the branch of a tree. Little birds seem to feel very safe eating from it. Picture of a cardinal so you can get idea about size. Third update: going up to 5+ stars! The cardinals and finches absolutely love it, AND the bluejays have figured out how to use it! (Video attached.). The squirrels have also figured out how to get the seeds— by hanging from their back feet from the overhead branch and stretching down to grab some seeds. Of all the fancy, pretty feeders I've purchased over the years, this inexpensive, plastic bird feeder beats them all. I hang on a long "S" hook. Try as they might, Squirrels cannot dump it. They try and give up. If they can Crack the rubic cube, they're welcome to the seed! So far the seed the birds spread around is theirs. I will buy again. ... show more

Our previous bird feeder was larger and we fed a lot of cardinals (good) and house finches (bad, an invasive non-native species in North Carolina.) along with a variety of other birds. This bird feeder is too small for them fit on. So if you want to keep house finches away, it's great. If you want to feed cardinals, not so good. The cardinals would fly toward it, but at the last minute, pull up and back away. So if you want to feed titmice, nuthatches and chickadees, this birdfeeder is great. The seeds don't spill out into the tray. They have to reach in to a tube to pull a seed out. The birdseed lasts a long time in this feeder. (We stock with black oil sunflower seed exclusively. That is a favority food of cardinals.) We will see if, when it gets colder and other natural food sources become scarce, the cardinals figure out a way. ... show more

It's easy to fill and easy for the birds to eat from it. But after 3 weeks (photos 1 and 2) the perches have been chewed down. Never seen a squirrel on the feeder, it hangs 10' from the trees. Update: By week 4 (3rd photo) the entire outer perch ring was gone, with only the seed bowl edge remaining. Note that there is no damage to the clear seed chamber. If it were squirrels doing the damage I'd expect the clear part or the cover to be eaten away, since that's the path to the seeds. I think bird claws and beaks are destroying the soft perches. At least the smallest birds can use it. Seller very quickly sent a replacement feeder. Same design, so I expect the same performance. ... show more

Was very happy with the sturdiness and look of this feeder. Especially like the easy to open and close top. However, I did not have any birds stay on the feeder for long. I was quite disappointed to see a long tube like feeder handing from the same tree getting lots of small birds and this feeder none. Same mixed seed so was sure it was the feeder. The birds seemed to have difficulty staying on. Then I replaced it with oiled black sunflower seeds. Now the same birds go back and forth between the feeders. Who knows? Was ready to toss this one or use it in the center of a birdbath. ... show more

So happy we bought this bird feeder. It’s a little shorter than expected but it’s the perfect size for finches. It’s plastic & light weight. Easy to fill. Having this bird feeder hanging outside our dining room window brings us so much joy. Highly recommend!

Very nice. Light weight with bird access from multiple sides. Made of sturdy plastic and about a quart or so capacity. I mention this because weight when loaded full of seed can be a problem for some feeder hangers (especially Sheppard's hooks)!
