This Vision bird home has many revolutionary design features that set it apart from traditional bird cages. It provides your bird with lots of room to move around and bird movements cause air currents, which flow outwards, and in the case of most standard bird cages these air currents eject waste and seed debris outside of the cage and onto the floor. With Vision Cages, the combination of the debris guard, the deep base and the placement of the seed and water cups helps combat air currents to keep the majority of the waste and debris inside the cage. Most cages come with pull-out drawers that fail to do a good job of collecting bird waste and create maintenance headaches as a result. Vision's unique no-drawer design simplifies cage cleaning-simply detach the cage portion and empty the contents of the base into the waste bin. Having owned birds of every kind from canaries to Macaws, hands down, this is without a doubt a great birdcage for small birds. However, no bird larger than one cockatiel should be put in this particular cage. I believe that all caged birds should be in the largest cages possible which affords them some flight, so my review only pertains to the large L01-large cage. In my opinion, the other Vision Bird Cages which are smaller, are too small for any caged bird, except for a pair of the small society type finches. I purchased two of this particular cage for pairs of breeding canaries and it has worked out far better than I expected. The cage offers a clear view of the birds from top to bottom, but best of all the cage is so easy to clean and food does not get fouled! For anyone who knows what small caged birds need, they will see that Hagen thought of everything when they put this cage together. Excellent job Hagen!! Thank you! POSITIVE FEATURES: (there are no negative features!) Lower seed cups, are a good ergonomic design, they are easy to clean, hold plenty of food, they do keep the mess in the cage. Perches well designed ergonomically. Sturdy and provide good footing and exercise with tapered shape to keep feet in shape. Perches are easily adjustable. They are NOT cheap. They are aesthetically nice to look at. They color match the seed dishes. There are horizontal bars all over the cage so a bird can easily grab bars and not slip. Vertical bars are not good for bird ages. Large bottom lower side doors make changing paper inside (over the grate) a breeze. They provide easy access to feed dishes. Shelf above feeding dishes does keep the food from being fouled. It removes easily for cleaning from the outside. The top lifts from the bottom with 2 snaps on back and front, the top can be placed on newspaper, while the bottom is cleaned. A Lixit glass water bottle (the most hygienic way to provide water for a caged bird) will easily attach to this cage. Two wide doors on the front offer easy access for cleaning, and attaching an external bird bath on one side. Lower clear plastic allows total view of birds inside, it cleans easily and is very strong, it should last for the life of the cage. Bars of cage appear to be stainless steel (no rust) and they wipe down easily. No paint to become chipped. All items on the cage, the wire sides, the plastic bottom, the clear lower section, the perches, seed cups are all replaceable. There is plendy of room for extra feed cups, a nest, nest material bin. Cage comes very well packaged, directions for putting cage together are easy to follow and understand, the cage is very easy and fun to put together. Canary breeders ususally use tiny cages. I found this cage so easy to keep clean over the usual breeder cages and I could give my birds more variety in foods. My birds can fly in this cage! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS CAGE! ... show more

    • Clean, Spacious, and Human/Bird Friendly
I have a parakeet. She is a rescue, and the cage I was given was small, used, and it was yellow. I didn't like the size, the color, and I REALLY didn't like the seed husks and feathers scattered all around the outside of the cage. I have had plenty of animals in my house before, but not a bird. I enjoy Blue (my blue Budgie), but not all the mess that comes with owning a bird. I knew that there had to be something better than the basic cage I had been given. I did plenty of research and decided on the Vision L01. I LOVE this cage. Here's why: ● I love the clear and neutral colors of this cage. There is nothing cheesy or ugly about it. It does not detract from my home decor. ● It is huge! The "L" in the model # stands for LARGE. I have it sitting on a half-wall between two rooms. The half-wall only measures 39" wide, but this cage is almost as long at 31". I realize now, that this is probably like a palace for just one Budgie, but I like it and she has plenty of room to fly. Which is why I chose a cage that was long horizontally, rather than tall. ● It really does keep all the seeds, husks, and feathers inside the cage with the deep base design and the debris guard. The deep base also allows for different types of litter. Air flow seems good too, which is also supposed to prevent mildew. I don't have to clean up scattered debris everyday now with this perfectly designed cage. ● I love the shields at each end that cover the two provided food/water bowls from droppings from above. Both of the included bowls are divided. You could put seed on one side and fresh fruits/veggies on the other. I don't use the second bowl. I took it out and installed a vertical water dispenser from my old cage. ● Food/water access: At each end of the cage is an access to the included (but removable) seed/water bowls. The access doors are very roomy, and it is very easy to remove the bowls to empty, clean, and/or fill them. Both access doors close securely when closed. ● The cage comes with 2 multi-grip perches. She really seems to like them. The perches are supposed to help promote circulation and prevent foot problems. ● There is no drawer on this cage. I hated the drawer on my old cage, and just detached the top from the base to clean out the litter, which is exactly how this cage is designed to be cleaned. Simply undo all the latches and lift the cage away from the base. My bird is already familiar with this process from the way I used to do it with her old cage, so no big deal. ● The front of the cage has double pivoting front doors. Each door pivots inwards at 90° angle. Versatile positioning. Both doors latch securely when closed, and provide plenty of room for cage access when open. I highly recommend this cage, whether it is the L01, M01, or S01 (large, medium, or small). You could also get this cage in the "tall home" versions as well: L02, M02, or S02. If you have Budgies, Canaries, Finches, Lovebirds, or Parrotlets, the included product catalog recommends the following Vision cages: S01/S02, M01/M02, or L01/L02. If you have Cockatiels or Lovebirds, the included product catalog recommends the following Vision cages: M11/M02 or L11/L12. All I need now, is the Vision L01/L11 Night Cover. The included product catalog states that the cover is, "washable, light-weight..., and attaches to the cage with velcro--not drawstrings--for added safety." **Only one recommendation: I think it would be nice, since this is a large cage, if there was a handle at the top to assist in lifting it off the base. I can do it just by placing a hand at each end of the cage and lifting, but I worry about it slipping since there isn't anything to grasp on the outside.
