  • Loosie-Goosie Threads
Color: blue C-frame
Like the color and cost. Packaged well, pieces well marked with good tool organization. Pressed out 4 ball joints on a 1995 F250 4X4 Dana 55 front end. Worked well DID NOT USE AN INPACT DRIVER. C-A-U-T-I-O-N threads are very loose feeling , lube and take your time. When tool was feeling like it was bound up I just smacked the side of the ball joint housing material and no issues!!! ... show more

  • Good item for what you pay
Color: blue C-frame
So clearly this thing isn't as robust as a Snap-On - but it also costs a fifth of the price. For the average guy who does a ball joint once or twice a year, this should be more than adequate, I believe. It comes with a good assortment of parts and pieces and an application guide that helps take the guesswork out of which ones to use (which I've shown to be accurate in two instances). The main clamp isn't bulletproof, but it's good enough to get it done. I'd be sure to use plenty of lube on the threads and at the various contact points, and the instructions explicitly state to not use an impact gun - so I haven't tried it. It only takes 30 seconds to wind in a ball joint manually anyway, so who cares? If the metallurgy on the 'C' itself was a little more robust I'd have given it five stars, but even so, I think it's well worth the money and likely to hold up for years. ... show more

  • Exceptional value
Color: blue C-frame
I rarely write reviews but after using this ball seal press I feel compelled to offer some commentary to balance out some of the negative feedback that others have tagged it with. First off, you get what you pay for and this press is clearly not marketed to or intended for the professionals in our world that use Snap-On and other high-end tools on a regular basis. This is not a press that is going to hold up for every-day use but it functioned superbly for the intended use I purchased it for --pressing a lower ball joint into the control arm of a 20 year old Honda Accord. I might use it again in a few years but the reality is that it's going to get called into service on infrequent basis and that's all I need. I don't know how some of the folks leaving feedback managed to bend a tool like this because it is very stout but I imagine for one reason or another they were applying a serious amount of torque into the clamping mechanism and went beyond the capability of it's design. ... show more

  • Not quite heavy duty
Color: black C-frame
Back story, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, resides in a dry climate, owned since new, stock vehicle. Like other reviews stated the booklet wasn't for the product that was purchased. So a bit of a slow start but was able to push out both upper ball joints fairly quick once I watched a YouTube video to see which components to use. Moved to the lower two and that is when it all went bad. Didn't just pop out like the top two after tightening the c-clamp. Sprayed both with pentraiting oil, let them soak a bit while I went back to YouTube to see other ideas on stuck ball joints and finally broke them free. However, the c-clamp wasn't able to hold up to the torque and bent while removing them. This was after 5+ hours of trying to work them free, just the bottom 2. With the bent c-clamp, could not install any of them straight! So I ended up driving the hour to town to rent one from the local retail chain of auto part stores. Was able to finish the project, 2 days later and then returned the kit to the auto parts store. If I knew this would have happened, I would have borrowed the kit in the first place and saved myself the $ for a kit that is now useless and the additional delay in completing the project. Thought it was a good idea to have the kit around just incase I need to replace ball joints again on another vehicle. Might be a fine kit to replace ball joints on a newer vehicle. If the c-clamp was replaced I would give a higher rating knowing the kit could be used again but I won't spend any more money on this companies proelducts. See bent c-clamp on top and straight one on the bottom. ... show more

  • Great for American cars and trucks, not so great for Japanese or European cars
Color: blue C-frame
I guess the product is sturdy by the look of it. It's heavy, weighing in at almost 30 lbs. Because of its heft, the carrying/storage case came a little damaged at one of its corners; not a reason to return it, though. I didn't try it because right off the bat, the manual says "check compatibility with your car before purchasing", a detail that somehow was forgotten in the online description of this product. ;-) The product description reads "Universally compatible with a wide range of vehicles..." The statement is an oxymoron: if the product is "universally" compatible it means it is compatible with ALL the vehicles - that's what "universal" means. If, on the other hand is compatible with a wide range of, but not all, cars then it is NOT "universally " compatible. I didn't pay attention to this detail, and been fooled into believing it will be compatible with my cars. Opening the user's manual, the user finds pages upon pages of American trucks and cars for which this product is compatible. Unfortunately for those who have such cars/trucks, the product is poorly represented in the Japanese or European cars area. It makes sense, since all the adapters are measured in SAE (i.e. inches, the American measuring system) instead of metric (i.e. mm, the rest of the world measuring system). Therefore, my suggestion is to check the compatibility with your track/car - the same is recommended in the user's manual. If your car/truck is compatible, you will be happy using it. If it not compatible... well, I'll let the user draw the conclusion. :-) Needless to say, I returned it, and I started looking for a replacement that will fit my Japanese and European cars and motorcycles. The Amazon return was speedy. Cheers! ... show more
