I love origami, it is a great idea for people who for any reason can’t assemble shelves, racks..and I have multiple different origami items including same type of rack listed here that I had ordered few years back. I decided to order another one and I am so disappointed as it is not at all same quality. The lower part has cracks and not sure how long it will stand. The upper rack cannot lock as the shelf is put in in a bad angle! The rack does not looks steady and even different color as the older one. I am not sure if it is origami manufacturing that is going down the drain or is this a knock off and not the actual origami. Not worth the price at all. ... show more

I have accumulated a dozen of these over the past several years and have managed to get the larger wheels for most of them. Wish they just came with those, as it makes a big difference in ease of rolling them around when loaded. The smiles on the faces of the movers last year when I showed them how to fold one up were priceless. So when we got to the new place, with it’s sometimes leaky basement, they were happy to set them up so as to not put things on the floor as they brought them in. Most have arrived in nearly perfect condition, with occasional minor dents or scratches that didn’t matter for using in the basement, and one that I didn’t think was going to lock down at first, but which, when I eventually partially stood on the bottom shelf, finally did, and has worked fine. No more cumbersome, heavy steel or wooden shelves with endless lost screws and Allen wrenches for me... ... show more

I ordered 2 Origami General Purpose Collapsible Foldable. One came broke which I noticed as soon as I opened the box. I will be sending it back. The other appeared fine until I set it up the next day. While setting it up, I realized the top shelf has a slight bend in it. At this point it's already set up so I am going to keep it. Too much work trying to package it back up. If you order this item please look it over out before completely removing it from the box. Other then that it was easy to assembly and with only having the one, I can see a difference in my garage. ... show more

Several years ago I bought a couple of Origami shelves from Amazon. They were great. Recently I bought this storage rack and an Origami computer desk. They both were defective. In general, the storage rack was shoddy in almost every detail. By getting a couple of very heavy men to put some muscle on it, I was able to get it latched. But if this were my first Origami product, it would have been my last Origami product. In fact, it is my last Origami product because returning large items to Amazon isn't practical. The computer desk doesn't look as slapdash as the storage unit, but I had to take a pair of LARGE pliers to it to get it to pretty much hold together. Wow! Older reviews should no longer apply to the units currently produced. The drop-off in quality is appalling! My circumstances have forced me to order these Origami shelf units on a rolling basis rather than all at once. So I can compare the units I ordered a couple months ago to the current units. I was very happy with the original shelf units I received. I don't know what Origami did to change its manufacturing processes but the drop off in quality over the past 6 months has now relegated these units to the cheap chinese made junk pile. Most recently, I ordered the wheeled units, which are now placed in non-wheeled picture packaging with a tiny sticker over the model number that changes the unit number number from 'R5-01' to 'R5-01W'. I only mention this because I almost sent mine back by mistake. Previous units were appropriately packaged. This did foreshadow the other shortcuts they also made. Fit and finish is now poor and has a definite 'cheap' feel to it. The paint has a look and feel substandard when compared to the original units. The single disposable wrench, standard with most 'assembly required' furniture bent out of shape to the point of being useless with the first wheel I tightened. I had to find a wrench from one of the original units I built to finish the assembly. The shelves no longer lie flat on their own after being tightened. I had to rely on the weight of the boxes to accomplish this. Some rivets are no longer flush to the metal skeleton. Some even have substantial 'play' where they should have been be fixed. The latch on the back of the unit felt over-tight to the point where I was concerned it might snap. The original shelves latched securely and were snug with a secure feel to them. Although the box was in perfect condition, one shelf unit had a damaged shelf. It must have occurred before shipping. Also, the wheels -barely adequate before are now even smaller (about 47mm vs 52mm). It doesn't sound like much, but wait till you see them. You'll wonder what they could have been thinking. I felt stuck. would have returned the 2 units I most recently received but for the time/trouble/effort required to return such bulk items. However, I certainly won't be ordering any more. ... show more
