  • Full item review with pros/cons
This is a great substitute for the Alex Nine from IKEA and was significantly cheaper when I purchased it. The instructions were a tad hard to find (they ended up being really folded deep in a box with some nails - I searched for a bit before realizing it). My pieces arrived exactly on time, with zero damaged or missing pieces. Instructions were definitely a bit hard to follow (especially which orientation some of the screws needed to be placed in - they’re incredibly tiny in the diagram and you can’t make out which side is which) but I was eventually able to figure it out. It took 4 hours (straight through) to build which isn’t terrible. The drawers slide easily and fit easily into their spots. The depth and size of the drawers make it perfect for storage of makeup or other items (paper, arts and crafts items, etc). The overall appearance is very nice and I am extremely pleased with how this came out. It is a tiny bit wobbly (not significantly so, but what you’d expect from a piece of self constructed furniture). Overall I would recommend this item to someone looking for a nice, relatively cheap, item for storage, which is why I gave this 5 stars - this was exactly what I wanted and perfect for me. Would not recommend to someone looking for a 100% perfect item, an expensive looking item, or something that comes to you premade. You get what you pay for (but this beat out all of my expectations tbqh). Pros: Arrived on time No damaged pieces Exactly as pictured when built Nice, quality item Cheap price Comparable to more expensive Alex 9 Easy to use once assembled Nice appearance Cons: Time to assemble (4 hours) Semi-difficult to follow instructions ... show more

  • Worth the Buy// Have Reasonable Expectations
The media could not be loaded. Please read full review- very helpful! When searching for an affordable drawer system to contain my calligraphy supplies, I struggled to find one until I got to this unit. Reading the reviews, I was worried. People complained about chips, drawer issues, etc but I made the purchase anyways because I loved the look. That being said, you have to have reasonable expectations when making this purchase- that is why I enjoy the product so much! Don't expect IKEA quality for a non-IKEA price. For less than $100, this was easily one of the best purchases I've made. DELIVERY- When you first open the box, it is very daunting- there is syrofoam galore and dozens of unlabeled pieces of wood (again, with setting your expectations). The thing that I most recommend is clearly labeling your pieces with masking tape before beginning. Organize the small parts (screws, etc) in muffin tins and LABEL THEM. This will make the construction process so much easier. CONSTRUCTION- I must admit, the reviews about long construction times are legit; it took me 5 hours (but again, WORTH IT, and I screwed everything by hand). The diagrams that come with are lacking, but not nearly as bad as some other reviews claim them to be. They give you enough instructions to complete the unit, although it will definitely take you a minute or 30 to get a sense of what the diagram is having you look at. I would recommend using an electric drill or a ratchet to make the process go quicker, as there are many screws. I had no missing parts DRAWER- The drawers take the longest to make, as there are 7 of them and each drawer has easily 20 parts to it but once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. Be careful to put the drawer rails/guides correctly on the drawers- I messed up and it took me a while to fix. Many of the bad reviews come from the user making this mistake. The drawers once constructed CORRECTLY slide very smoothly and are not slow or loose at all (see VIDEO). The other reviews talking about the drawers falling out are due to user error- not the drawers' fault. OUTSIDES- The outsides of the drawers are thin but not at all flimsy. I have no issues with bending or instability. "BAD" THINGS- I ended up not putting the wheels on the bottom of the unit because the screws that are said to attach the wheels to the unit are too big for the holes that you're supposed to put them into. That wasn't a problem for me, as my intention for this unit is for it to remain stationary. Just be aware of that if you're looking for this to be mobile. There were two screws that I didn't use that attached the top of the unit to the sides due to another fitting issue, but there are small dowels included that did the trick just fine. The drawers do not go all the way to the back of the unit, so the drawer lengths are not the same as the unit's length. For reference, the drawers fit two mason jars stacked on top of one another (laying flat of course, as seen in the video). There were VERY FEW chips, and they were not very noticeable. OVERALL- Set your expectations. Label your parts. Be patient. Very successful purchase, I HIGHLY recommend! ... show more

  • Overall, good for price (this review includes written tips for assembly)
So, I want to preface my review by saying that (by no fault of the manufacturer,) my storage drawers are damaged. The delivery driver delivered it to the wrong house and it was left outside in the rain, box, shipping label ruined and parts of the product as well. Because I couldn’t return it without the label and what-not, I was issued a refund, but decided to put it together anyway because- well, I didn’t know what else to do with it If I couldn’t return. Anyway, because I basically got a free functioning product and I feel bad about it, I will do you a service by offering some assembly tips for you :) Instructions are pictures only, and that would be okay if they were a little more detailed, maybe closer up and labeled better. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the orientation of some of the smaller bits and pieces on this piece of furniture. Also, for some reason I was given one screw that was not the same length as all the others (pictured)? I used it anyway because it was the same diameter and it wasn’t a structural screw, just one for the drawer hardware, so I figured it’s not a huge deal. It took me (21 y/o female) about 3 hours to put together, and my hands were very sore from all the screwing afterwards (I recommend using an electric screwdriver or a drill on very low speed and torque, as particle board tends to split with too much force). I’m going to go through the steps of the instructions and add some much-needed detail for you now. 1) step one was pretty straight-foward; attach all of the m and n pieces to pieces b and c (respectively). One tip here is to make sure you have m and n on the correct sides, as none are labeled. What you want is for the end of the bar with the wheel to be in the front of the side, and with the wheel in the lower position. 2) this step is where it got a bit tricky for the pictures. There are about 3-4 things to do in this step and it was a bit unclear what should be done first. I recommend first attaching the V (lg cam lock screws) and Q2 (large dowels) To piece A first, then placing the large cam locks into the sides. Then, slide piece A into the top, lock the cam locks, and slide the back piece in afterwards. The instructions show the back piece sliding from the top, but I found it much easier to slide it in from the bottom after the top was secure. 3) the easiest step, first attach the remaining large dowels to piece D, push it into the side pieces and screw the long screws through the bottom. 4) very straight-foward, attaching the casters. One thing that was a bit frustrating here was that the holes for the screws weren’t drilled in even a quarter of the length of the screw, so it took a bit of force to get the screw to bite and start to go into the wood. This was the only part of this product where the holes were done like this. 5) the most tedious step, and also has many moving parts. The order I recommend doing it in; put together the sides and back of all the drawers with the labeled pieces, then slide in the bottoms of all the drawers. Attach the small dowels and cam screws to the drawer fronts, then add the cam locks, push the drawer fronts on and lock the cams. I tried a few other orders, for other drawers, but this was definitely the most efficient. I found at this step that some of the pre-drilled holes weren’t exactly lining up properly for the bottom of the drawer to go in, so I recommend not screwing the side pieces completely tight until you have the bottom completely pushed in, then tightening it around the bottom piece. I also noticed that there were some discrepancies in the pictures provided for this step, the pieces don’t look exactly like what is given. For this, you want your sides to be oriented where the slot for the bottom is on the bottom, the two holes are in the back and the hole for the cam lock is in the front top. Attaching the drawer wheels was very simple and straight-forward. I hope this was helpful to anyone that was slightly confused by the picture-only instructions :) ... show more
