This is my 5th Orbit timer, which I bought to replace a 2 year old orbit timer that stopped turning one of the two valves on about half the time, and 1 of the 2 outlets on this one quit working in less than 3 months. Except this time it would open the valve but not close it (yikes!). My neighbor messaged me while on vacation to let me know my sprinklers had been on for 12 hours, and that she had turned them off for me. When I got home I tried replacing the batteries and within a week the same thing happened again, so this has been taken out of service. I find the orbit products to be pretty much disposable, they last at best 24 months and then need to be replaced, even with them only being outside for 6 months of the year (I bring them in to the garage in the winter). I probably won't be buying any more orbit timers. Update: Orbit timers are great for 3 to 12 months, and then they fail with at a rate of 75%. Over the last 4 years I have purchased at least 5 different Orbit timers. Here are the ones I can think of: 2 outlet -- quit working after 12 months. It would *click*, but water wouldn't flow about 75% of the time. (this one) 2 outlet w/ an extra manual outlet -- quit working after 2 months. It would turn on, but not off. I was on vacation and my neighbor called to inform me my sprinkler had been on for upwards of 16 hours. 4 outlet w/ individual valves (includes 2, you buy the other 2). -- 2 of the 4 valves quit working within a year. 2x 4 outlet molded units. The first one failed in <12 months. The second one is the only piece of Orbit equipment I still own, because I refuse to keep throwing money away. We just had a row of Arborvitae planted at the beginning of summer and they were in a full sun location. I was not confident that the sprinkler system was taking care of the root balls adequately and wanted to protect my investment. So, I purchased this timer and some soaker hoses. This device is very flexible in that we had a specific water schedule in mind that was 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. Without even reading the manual I was able to successfully program the timer within a few minutes. Since then I’ve been gloriously uninvolved with and unconcerned with maintaining these new plantings and despite a serious heat wave they are doing great. Considering the investment that it’s protecting, the cost of this unit is insignificant and it’s been totally effective. I would highly recommend this item without hesitation. ... show more

    • Inability to stop overnight watering makes this useless for lawns except for a 12 hour cycle.

I bought this hoping to replace a non-working 4-zone Melnor lawn-watering timer. The timing capabilities of this 2-zone Orbit timer are all but useless except for once-a-day timing of the two zones. My old Melnor was set up to water four zones, every 4 hours only in the daytime. That last part is important because using the "every-6-hour" option of this timer (smallest piece of time) will do exactly that, water your lawn every 6 hours throughout the day and night. A 12-hour cycle is not much better. I'm not sure if any good logic was used in designing this timer. Everyone knows that to water after dark is to invite mold. ... show more

I have manual Orbit water timers (1-station, 2-station, and this 3-station) on all of my faucets because I do not have an irrigation system. It is so nice to have everything on a timer so I don't forget to turn the water off! This 3-station timer is nice because it has a manual lever for the third hose port making washing your car or rinsing things down very easy. As long as I store them in the garage during the winter, they last year after year. ... show more

This was the second Orbit watering timer that I have owned. The first one seemed to be pretty good, it was a single timed outlet rather than this double outlet model, (Yes, it only has two timed outlets, not three as you would assume by looking at the pictures, the third is a manual only outlet.) The first one only lasted a couple of seasons and then it died inexplicably. I didn't think too much of it as I liked the rest of the design, simple, straight forward, not a lot of programming to make it work. So I decided to purchase this model and to my surprise, this one did the same thing, only this one died after only two months, not two seasons. Update 8/12/21: Raised one star because of their warranty support. I was contacted right away after explaining that their online store is out of stock. They were willing to get me an Amazon gift code to replace my broken hardware (Amazon was original place of purchase). This way I'll get it faster. I have had this since March 2021 and it's August 2021 now. I turned this off for 3 day and now it won't power back on. I replaced the batteries with known good, 1.5V batteries and it's still not powering up. When you reach out to get a warranty replacement, they give you a gift card to order online but the product is out of stock. This has been great for me this summer, allowing me to travel and still water the garden but that just ended today. Will keep trying for a replacement somewhere. I have had these orbit timers for several years, the single, the double, and the triple. My triple stopped working after 3 years (as did my single ones). So I ordered this triple port one, and to my huge disappointment, realized as I was setting it up, that it only had 2 timers instead of three! The 3rd port is a manual (non timer) which is useless to me for what I need. So just beware, this does not have 3 timers. I use this for sections in my garden to be watered, and I need 3 timers!!!!
