  • This oven is AMAZING! Professional grade pizzas in your own backyard.
I've wanted a brick pizza oven for years and I finally gave up on that dream after finding out that they're illegal in my city for new construction. We decided to buy a portable oven and, honestly, our expectations were not high. It's pizza after all so it can't be a bad thing no matter what. After buying this oven I have learned that there are legions of amateur Pizzaiolos using small ovens and making incredible pizza. I, if I may be so bold, have become one of them. I started out using strictly wood as a fuel and I've had it well north of 950 degrees. As a wood fired oven it is simply amazing. Recently I needed to have my temperature down in the 500's and straight charcoal worked well to keep it at that temperature. Just this week I purchased the gas adapter and cooked for the first time with it tonight. It's super easy and very effective, getting well above 800 degrees and cooking more stress free for when you have a large group and want to stress less about adding wood. This is a very well made, well rounded cooking tool that will raise the level of your pizza game. There are other ovens on the market and most of them are awesome. You almost can't go wrong with any of them. For a little more money than many of them this Ooni has a little more capacity and the gas option is just as effective as using wood. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Works great
The oven works like a charm and was easy to assemble. There is a learning curve with temperatures and recipes

  • Quality Item
We have had our Ooni Karu 16 for over a year now . We use the propane burner because wood made to much black smoke & soot . There was a learning curve , but now we are making pizzas better than our local Pizza Parlor . Also doing steaks in it , they come out with a great seared crust & very juicy .

  • Awesome oven with great versatility
I initially started with a ~$200 pizza oven to make sure I would use it, and make more than just pizza. I really wish I just committed to the Ooni right away. After a few months of research contemplating buying the Ooni Karu and the Gozney Arc, I settled with the ooni because it was one of the few ovens I could find that worked with both wood/charcoal and natural gas. I find the gas to be incredible convenient for pizzas so I can get an even cook, but love that slight wood flavor with things like steak, cast iron chicken thighs, etc. The customer service is also amazing with Ooni. If you buy there oven, make sure to join either their facebook page or their subreddit. They are both the most positive and supporting groups I have joined, especially with cooking products, and they are the only ones that have actual employees in the group engage with us to answer and questions or concerns. I would struggle finding one complaint I have with this unit that isn't an expected result from using a smaller at home pizza oven (such as it gets dirty really quickly especially with using charcoal and if using charcoal/wood, you'll need a ton of it and constantly need to feed it) ... show more

  • Horrible pizza maker attempt
So far attempted twice using hardwood, not the gas fuel option that I have also. The first time using the oven, the pizza burnt, black crispy edge. I used store bought dough, corn flower on the dough. Preheated the oven, added sauce, cheese and pepperoni cooked the pizza and turned it several times. The bottom of the dough was raw and the edges burnt. I ended up putting it in the house oven. The attached ooni karu temperature gauge read over 700 and it eventually hit 800 f. The 2nd time, used flour, a little better, rolled the dough out thin, cooked the pizza still partially burnt. The 2nd pizza to go in the oven would not slide off the ooni pizza peel. Ended up with a mushed compressed pizza with sauce and cheese all over. I'm not sure if I could tolerate another attempt or maybe if I used a pan for a Detroit style pizza. Or even better just order from the local Italian pizza place. ... show more

  • It's art, not convenience
Do you want a 90 second pizza? Sick of ordering take out and think this will fry up fast dough? Want to save money on take out? If so... This is NOT for you. Want to control your ingredients? Want to get super creative and enjoy a really fun hobby? Want to have fun parties and impress friends/family? If so... Then this is for you. I am what I would call a professional home cook. I go to extreme lengths to create 5-star quality food at home. There is basically nothing I can't cook or a recipe I can't follow. I own all the gadgets (traeger/blackstone/kitchenaid/ vitamix etc...) That being said I adore this thing but it's got a learning curve. It is not beginner friendly but that dosent mean you shouldn't get it because it is easy to figure out. It will just take time and patience. The first 10 pizzas will be hit or miss, most likely, and you have to take time to understand everything about it. Humidity/wood type/dough hudration/flour type/fermentation of the dough... it ALL plays a part. So, if you want to pick up a new hobby and you like eating I would 1000% recommend this pizza oven. It is absolute perfection. I included a photo of my first pizza and some "scrap dough" I made onto easy dinner bread, both were delicious but definitely need work. Recipe: 400g OO flour 400g water 1tbsp honey 1 tsp yeast *Overnight rise* Enjoy 🇮🇹 ... show more
