Overall I love the tree and so does Butterscotch. It’s sturdy and easy to clean compared to a cardboard cat tree. Plus it looks like art in my living room. Here’s a summary of the things I struggled with, see below for details Stability: I had to hide a piece of folded cloth under one side of the base to get the tree to not wobble when the cat jumps into it (see below for details). Comfort: The pre-assembled leaves are great but I did have to remove a lot of them to get my cat to use the tree. Once he got comfortable with the tree I was able to add back some of the leaves, but the branches are too stiff or prickly for him to push past them so I had to leave some of them off. Size: my cat is 11-12 lbs and is very long lol so the top shelf is too small for him to use. See the pictures I added for help in visualizing how much space it takes up Details: I’m 5’1 and not very strong and was able to build this myself in maybe 45-60min with my cat distracting me by being cute playing in the leaves along the way. The heaviest part of the tree is the base, and I could lift it just fine. The hardest parts of assembly were adjusting the base screws so that it would stand flat/not wobble and installing the last part of the trunk. The base comes with screws that have rubber heads attached to give it grip on the floor I assume. The problem is that if one of the screws is even a little off compared to the others the tree will wobble! I eventually had to put a folded cloth under one side of the tree because I got tired of adjusting the screws. Then the last trunk and shelf: There wasn’t enough of the inner pole left to fit the last trunk section over, which meant I couldn’t install the last shelf. I had to take it apart and loosen several of the inner rods to regain height, which made me worry about the stability again. But once it came together it looked great and was surprisingly stable. Sturdiness: I lost maybe 2 leaves in the assembly process, but after that the tree has remained intact. It holds up to being jumped on to by my cat, the shelves are super sturdy. Butterscotch likes to lounge in it and watch the birds from behind the leaves. It’s so cute when I find him napping in the tree or on the base. Because he loves it so much and it looks so good in my space I’m willing to overlook the few problems I had with assembly and give it a 5 star rating ... show more

    • Great way to engage your cat!

This was a beautiful and great alternative to the traditional cat climbing tree. I enjoy seeing the greenery that adds to the household decor, rather than take away from it. My kitties were getting bored, and one of them is especially is high energy and needed that hunting/hiding experience. The minute I pulled this out, it's been a big hit! He can easily jump through the levels, is playful, pokes his head out and naps all the way at the top. I would warn though, that my other larger cat cannot fit all the way to the top. She tends to stay at the bottom in the grass area. So if you have larger cats, this may not be for them, or make sure to get the largest size (I only purchased the two tier tree). The price was incredible for this thing, shipped fast and it's sturdy while the kitties crawl through it. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

My cats took to it right away. Couldn't get it out of the box before they were climbing in the leaves. Disappointed that when you screw the metal posts tigh as instructed the last post (designed shorter than the others) doesn't stick up above the trunk piece (the same size as the other 2 trunk pieces). You are supposed the screw the last perch onto the metal rod. Either the metal rod should be the same size as the others or the trunk piece needs to be about an inch shorter. To fix the issue I am debating on trying to find an extension of some sort for the metal rod or cutting the trunk piece down so the top perch will screw onto the existing rod as designed. It's not hard to put together, design a bit flawed. The leaves are fragile. Not sure how long until cat has broken them all n off. Cats do love climbing and sleeping in it. Seems sturdy enough to hold them. ... show more

I like that this looks like a tree. My cats seem to like hiding in the leaves before jumping at each other. The base is larger than I realized and very sturdy, which I appreciate with my 16 pound cat. It was pretty easy to put together by myself. The only two things I could imagine would improve this: the trunk is plastic and does not lend itself for climbing (a different texture might be nicer) and my cats haven’t seemed to figure out going up levels really. My big boy merely jumps to the second level if he wants up that high. My kitten can’t jump that high, so has this far kept to the first level. But that could be just my cats, and not the product itself. ... show more

First, the cats LOVE this tree but only after I dealt with the stability issue. The tree comes with balancers, but they actually made the tree less stable because they slide on the floor instead of gripping. My ginger cat is a large cat and likes to run and jump on the tree. If you buy this, I recommend also purchasing rubber shimmies, a 40lb flat weight on the base, and perhaps a little duct tape for good measure (tape comes in greens and browns so it’s not that noticeable). Beyond stability issues, it is a pain to put together - especially where the shelves have to screw in over the trunk pieces. If the cats didn’t like it so darn much, I would have rated it much lower. Just be prepared to fix the issues it has on your own. I don’t think this product was thoroughly tested with young, energetic, active large cats. ... show more
