I bought this for my 11-year old Boxer, who has a massive inoperable tumor on her side. We got it for her for Christmas, and it has been a massive hit with her - she loves the side bolsters, and likes to snuggle up against them. They're nice and solid, but they still have give, which is really nice. The biggest design feature that I appreciate about this is that it isn't completely enclosed by the bolsters, so it's easy for her older legs to clear the sides to get into the bed. This is a bit odd to write or leave in a review, but the middle cutout area has also been really helpful for her in a second way - her tumor extends away from her body, and having the middle cutout in the bed kind of allows a place for that mass to go, without impacting her ability to snuggle up, just like she has always loved to do. It's a small detail that others with dogs with similar conditions may appreciate. My dog has never been a bed guy. We had a couple when we first got him, but he's a chewer. He never used to lay on the bed, just would chew it when he was feeling playful, so we had to get rid of those. He just would use the couches or floor. He's 9 now, though you wouldn't know it, other than his joints getting a bit more stiff, and his muscles becoming a bit more tender. He hurt himself about a month ago and it killed me hearing him yelp when he adjusted his resting position. So I desperately looked for a bed, despite the high possibility of him destroying it or hating it. But he LOVES it. It's so comfy too, I wish I had one for me. Though it's big enough for a human too. It's so cute to see him curl up on his bed and he looks really relaxed and comfortable. Occasionally we hear a yip when he's on the hard floor, but not nearly as bad or as often. I don't know if it healed over time or if this bed helped it, but I know that it seems to be well made enough to support his aging bones, and it's so soft. No smell, shape is great, a bit of a chore to put the cover on, but I think it's just because this is roughly the size of a twin bed lol. It has that sort of wavy eggcrate foam stuffing and it functions exactly the way it's advertised. Worth every penny to make my little boy happy. Don't hesitate. ... show more

Eddie got a new beddie for Christmas. He's older and needed something to help him stay comfy and asleep all night. This bed is perfect! For size reference, he is about 50 pounds, and about 32" long. We got him the Large size, but could probably have fit in the medium, as he seems to sleep in it width wise. The cover is easy to reomve and washes well. Also easy to reassemble bed. The foam is sturdy and well made, seems to support him quite well. Eddie also got a pet heating pad! The K&H Pet Products Pet Bed Warmer is amazing, and gives a consistent moderate heat when plugged it. I bought this bed for my 120 lb Great Dane, and it’s been great for her. She’s got plenty of room to stretch out, and the thick memory foam gives her the support she needs for her joints. She sleeps much better now. Much larger than I anticipated. The cover is soft but durable, and it’s easy to wash, which is important for a dog her size. The bed doesn’t slide around either, even when she shifts positions.
