    • Great buy and a Fix for the smell
These are great for wood floors. When buying bumper plates though remember it IS rubber so you never want to have less than a 25 lb plate to support a bar or else it will bend. The light weights are fine if your adding to anything more than 25lbs, but they are too thin and of course will warp/bend. Second, the smell/grease. The only way to get rid of oil is with oil. Soap won't work as oil doesn't attach itself to soap. You will just end up ruining the material and it will degrade from the chemicals. Use some cheap cooking oil (that isn't rancid), and using a paper towel or rag, cover one side of the plate with a good amount of oil. Then using old rags wipe the plates off until there is no more shine and looks "matte". Do the same thing on the other side. It may take a lot of rags and a little extra oil to get the last of it off but it's worth it, especially if they are in your living room like mine are. I ordered a pair of 15 lb bumper plates. Glad the quantities were distinguished well in the options. Other sites/sellers would list a basic plate at an astronomical price (like the price of 2) and you'd have to read thoroughly to make sure you were literally only going to get one. Not sure how much the price has changed on these, but I bought them at the end of May, at around $2 per lb which is typical for basic bumper plates. Some people mentioned that the plates have a strong odor and were greasy upon arrival. I agree, the rubber smell was somewhat sharp and noticeable. It didn't linger in the house though. Once I moved them to the garage, the odor softened after a while. The plates did have a greasy residue. I read that this is normal during the manufacturing process and can be wiped clean. Factory fresh I guess. The diameter of these plates match up pretty well with the color bumper plates I bought elsewhere. They do stand a hair taller, but it doesn't bother me. They're just as sturdy. I've used them several times so far with no issues. ... show more

I got these for about $44 shipped. In the COVID-19 era, when all workout equipment prices went sky high, that was a pretty good deal. Even before COVID-19, not a bad price. But you get what you pay for -- these are cheaper plates. But they work totally fine. They're plates. They weigh 10 pounds. They slide on the bar. What more do you want? Some specific notes: -- The people who complained about the smell aren't lying. There is a kind of rubber smell that is pretty strong. I'm sure it'll dissipate. When mine arrived, they were kind of greasy, for lack of a better word, but I just wiped them down and they were fine. I'm sure this is part of the manufacturing process. -- Compared to Rogue Hi-Temp 10-pound plate, which is the only thing I had to compare these to, these plates are thinner. -- With just 10-pound weights on a 45-pound bar, the plates do bend a fair amount. I've seen far worse bend for worn-in Rogue Hi-Temp plates, so I wasn't concerned. So bottom line: These are fine. Not great -- but fine. They work. ... show more

    • Good for the cost but...
Weights are weights. They fit the 2 in barbell. There is some minor damage on one of the plates, a small chip off of the edge. I have 2 issues with this product. 1) when I unpacked the weights they were covered in some sort of grease or oil, maybe “sweat” from the rubber being in the heat or the warehouse or the truck. I had to lightly scrub the weights for about an hour to clean them. 2) they smell. It’s a unique scent, but the strength of the odor has not abated at all since I opened them. I’ve been spraying febreeze around them to try and mask the smell, but it doesn’t last long. The smell eventually overpowers the febreeze. I don’t know if this is a product defect or the result of where it was kept prior to or during the shipping process. ... show more
