The first thing you should do when you receive your printer is to update the firmware and after that proceed to root the machine. Oh and check if you got the updated extruder. The early version of the printer had an extruder issue that creality fixed. Once you root the machine, that’s when the real magic happens. The source code becomes accessible (klipper configs) and you can do whatever you want…unlike other closed system machines cough bambu. I’m not sure if the other reviewers are familiar with klipper or input shaping but manually doing your own yields much better results vs the automatic one. I’ve pushed this machine harder and faster than my voron 2.4 and I’m truly amazed by it, the price to performance is hard to beat. The creality slicer and stock webui is garbage, root the machine! ... show more

  • Was good for the first week or so
The media could not be loaded. First thing to know is initial setup can take up to 10 minutes. The input shaping phase was very long(may Rev up mother board fans multiple times) for me to the point I feared a bad motherboard after research. When it got past first time set up I had nearly flawless prints. You need to make sure to disconnect the Teflon tube and feed the plastic by hand (at least for pla or abs, not relevant to tpu as I haven't tried this material yet im drying it.) into the unlocked 🔓extruder while it is pre heated. When plastic is extruding, you then lock it 🔐 and extrude via screen. It does waste a lot of plastic when 'extrudeing' setup (in photos, looks like a string with circles on a pei bed; hand for reference). Extruding is misspelled and other menu items are misspelled and cut off, but understandable just not pretty. Bed from my experience does not need glue and performs better without it. I am printing a side spool holder, as the rear spool holder is not a good place for it. Very mesmerizing watching it print the included benchy and impressive to see it print so quickly. I print around 300mm/s for hyper pla and adjust accordingly with tuning for other materials and needs for accurate parts. Overall solid printer( after owning ender 3 v2 for over a year) this machine is a breeze to be a creater and not a printer tinkerer. Will update after a few months of usage. All 4 white prints in photo 4 were printed the first night I set up the printer Decibel readings shown at 500 to 600 mm/s on included benchy, before and after I added sound dampening to: sides, lower and lid of printer. Making a miniscule change in reverberated motor sounds and fan sounds. Fans can be obnoxious at high print speeds. But double the average of ender 3 v2 (my last printer) I can have the fans nearly silent at 150mm/s. Compared to what I've experienced before this printing.. this is am amazing device and I hope it holds up. Ill definitely update I receive any feedback 🫡 Update: I received my printer on January 23rd. It is no longer functional after very light usage. Less than 50 hours of printing and the extruder fails every single print after the first layer. Contacted creality and they said they're on a 2 week break for Chinese new year so I'm SOL. Extremely dissatisfied as I was hoping this would be a solid product but after less than a month of usage I have to say it is not. Considering to return and use refund towards a Bambu lab or Prusa. This is not a reliable product. Most recent photo shows extrusion error despite changing almost every variably independently over the last 6 or so days. ... show more

  • Easy set-up of Creality K1 3D Printer
My wife wanted to buy me a 3D printer for my 77th birthday (never to old to learn). I did a lot of research and settled on the Creality K1. I opened it just 3 days ago. Set-up was pretty straight forward with only two or three issues that required some Google research. During the last 2 days I’ve run through all of the Creality Print calibration steps to fine tune it using the Creality Hyper PLA supplied with the printer. Those all came out well and I’m pretty happy with all of the test results. I printed the 16 minute Benchy benchmark test that turned out very good - considering it is my first real print. There are a couple of filament strings inside the cabin. The hull is very smooth. The cabin roof has some minor ripple texture. I know that some people have had problems with the K1. For me it has been easy and pretty simple to set-up and begin using. The documentation from Creality is lacking in a few areas, but there are many, many articles and videos out there from the 3D printing community that more than adequately fill in the gaps. The K1 is a beautiful and well-built machine and the Creality Print software is reasonably easy to use - again with some help from Internet contributors. I highly recommend the K1 for beginners who are willing to do some research and invest time in learning the many variables and details involved in 3D printing. ... show more
