  • You can make it great.
Out of the box it has a few good tone. Some were not so good to my ear and with my guitar and headphones. Be prepared to fiddle with it for a couple of hours to get tones you really like. They are easily saved or even imported. I think it depends a lot on your gear. The nice thing is it’s easy to adjust the app as you would a real amp and pedals. Then save it. My unit squealed on one preset initially. I replaced it and no issues. You need a pc to update the firmware and a companion app to save multiple tone patches. The companion app (Mightier amp) is better to use with a iPad and has a few additional features. Pros; sound great, easy to use. Perfect silent practice setup. Cons; you will likely need to fiddle with it to get tones. It may not be intuitive if you don’t know all the gear and what it does. Just be patient and you will be rewarded. It’s also a bit tricky to manage the headphone cord coming off it but it’s way easier than using headphones with a practice amp. ... show more

  • Excellent bass amp for headphone use
This thing is awesome. It has great tone presets right out of the box, way more options than I need. And then you can custom create your own tones and save 7 preset slots. The app fired up right away and connected no problem. Fits my front face jack great, and is thoughtfully designed to not be in the way of knobs or strings. Playing bluetooth audio through it from my phone was flawless, and sounded great. It comes with dozens of drum tracks and music tracks in different genres to groove along with too. No regrets at all, well worth the price to be able to practice in quiet, but feel like I'm playing with a live amp. ... show more

  • Great little IEM amp
I have enjoyed using this for several months now. Thoroghly enjoy the many features, amp models and effects. Very durable; much sturdier than other headphone amps I used in the past. Cleaner sound as well. Works well with my 6 string bass (including the tuner), where I need to pay attention to not over low-drive my lesser earphones. Paired well with my phone, which allowed excellent use of practice tracks. I can burn through the battery on extended practices, so I can tether USB charging while practice, as long as I don't wander. Takes a little time to learn everything it does. I have not tried the USB as an audio interface yet. Well worth the price, highly recommended. ... show more

  • Very Nice. Very fun.
This device was very to get up and running. The app is super stable. The tweaks and adjustments are endless so like one reviewer wrote, be prepared to spend some time getting the tones you like. Isn’t that half the fun anyway? For the technology that is stuffed in this thing and how well it works, the price in my opinion is totally worth it. I’m now plugging into a Taylor acoustic and my guitar arrives tomorrow! I’m so excited to use this with an actual electric guitar! ... show more

  • Worth the upgrade from the Mighty Plug 2
BOTTOM LINE: This is a GREAT product for the right player. With a little bit of effort you can create very good sounds in a super portable and convenient setup for players that need/like to play through headphones. (If you do not like or are not comfortable with tweaking your sound, look elsewhere. The Fender Mustang Micro will be a better option for you. It has decent tone options out of the box.) REVIEW: I've lived with the new Mighty Plug Pro for a couple of months now and it is great for the money. (I've used the older, Mighty Plug 2 for a couple of years.) The default patches are okay--not great. However, the ability to easily load and edit third party IR files through the new Mighty Editor software is a game changer. I was able to load my favorite RedWirez IR files and apply level, high-pass, and low-pass filters to work very well with the stock Mighty Plug Pro amp models. This is, by far, the best reason to buy the Mighty Plug Pro over other "plug" style amp modelers. The amp models themselves are good (better than the Mighty Plug 2)--not exact replicas but very usable for practice or jamming out. The effects options are also good to great. (The modulation effects, in particular, sound very good.) Playing latency is quite low--less than when playing in front of a real amp. Bluetooth sound is surprisingly good. Streaming music or backing tracks from my phone or computer did not suffer from the obvious quality loss I've come to expect from most Bluetooth devices. It was relatively easy to mix my guitar sound with the streamed tracks for a relatively seamless experience. While Bluetooth sound is great, there is noticeable lip-sync delay when watching video content, but it is not particularly distracting--even with instructional content. The only real negative is when playing bass through the Might Plug Pro. It suffers from the same persistent buzz that the older Might Plug has. (I addressed this with NUX in detail a couple of years ago--so it is a bit disappointing to find it in a new product.) That said, loading custom IR files and taking advantage of the included 10-band EQ can mitigate the issue to an acceptable level. I must mention that this device deserves decent headphones that are relatively easy to drive. It makes a huge difference in the experience. Something like the the Philips SHP9500 or SHP 9600 will sound amazing without breaking the bank. Overall, this is a great option for folks that like the freedom to walk around the house while practicing or jamming out to music without bothering anyone. It is not a substitute for a Line 6 Helix or a great computer based amp simulator like S-Gear, but with a little work it does sound very good when you consider the cost and the convenience it provides. ... show more
