  • Good product, with some flaws
It is a very good amp. I used for rehearsals and gigs in very small venues. The guitar sounds and effects are great. The sound quality is top notch for lower volume levels. Additionally, is the best speaker I have used for Karaoke. A lot of fun, because the audio reproduction via Bluetooth and the voice is cristal clear when used with a good mic. But be aware, it is not free of flaws: - Not as powerul as I thought - 4 Channels, but each one has a specific function, so you can not put 2 mics, for example, or two guitars. - Not great for bass, maybe for the size of the speakers. I preffer my 40W Fender Rumble combo even for rehearsals in my small room. For bass, it lacks of clarity, deepness and projection of the sound. - Oddly, the app has a fixed order for the effects (you can not edit the order, only on/off each effect and tweak some controls). I really have the hope Positive Grid fix this in the next firmware/app update, because it can be a deal breaker for some intermediate or advanced guitar players. ... show more

  • Solid big sound
Love the Spark Live. It is the Spark 40 and the Spark Cab all rolled into one amp plus additional inputs and there is a battery too. Has a big sound. Positive Grid did a great job

  • EXCELLENT for smaller venue live performances
Cannot say enough about the Spark Live. Quality build, lots of options and feature and plenty of power. Love it’s versatility!

  • Fun until you start running into the issues.
I have been playing guitar for about 30 years at this point and that’s what is behind this review. In one word, it is fun, but the fun ends depending on your expectations. My expectations were consumer level modeling stuff and that’s what it is for the most part. It’s not great and it’s not terrible, it’s just; good. As much as I really wanted to love this thing, there are a just too many things that add up which make the experience frustrating and unenjoyable. I bought this for a home “fun” practice amps and maybe throw it in the backyard if the kids want to pump music or whatever. I am mainly a tube amp guy but also am into modeling to a bit as well so this is not a tube lover dumping on a digital rig. Here are the issues: Signal path - You cannot change the order of the signal path in regards to effects. I did not realize this at all before buying. I did know that you could not add additional slots but I thought the effects themselves would be swappable between different slots in the path. This is not the case. Positive Grid has decided the order of certain pedal types should be used and that is the final word. Huge letdown for me as part of modeling, in my opinion, is modeling lets you try/experiment with different things fast and easy. This restriction was a huge bummer. Sounds - The sounds are…..okay. What really got me into this was buying the $13 Jimi Hendrix bundle. The amps in there are WAY better than the out of the box stuff that Positive Grid offers in my opinion. They have a bit of magic that the stock out of the box stuff doesn’t have. If you are a user of this amp I would highly recommend the purchase even if you have nothing to do with Hendrix at all. The amps sound great and a higher tier than the box stuff. Control X - I bought the Control X pedal box along with the amp. It looked like a great addition to the Live. It works okay. It’s incredibly frustrating that you have to pair the unit EVERY SINGLE TIME you use it. Why? I get that maybe you have other Positive Grid hardware you want to use it with, but just force me to pair it when I change hardware; not when I want to turn not he amp and goof around for 15 mins a couple times a day. I guess it’s possible it’s a hardware defect of some kind. I mean it’s not the end of the world but it’s frustrating and ruins the feel of the supposed easy experience digital/modeling/etc. stuff. I just want to turn it on and go and understand that the trade off to that is lower quality tone but I’m not waiting for a tube amp to warm up and not burning up my tubes to mess around while I have a few minutes to spare. App / Hardware Connection - Another big problem was the amp seems to just forget the hardware presets until I crank the preset knob on the front or fire up the app, navigate to the proper hardware and connect. Then the ones that are SPECIFICALLY for the hardware slots which should just come on as soon as I power up the unit. Why do I have to do something to get the amp to just use the preset it is currently on and was using when it was turned off? It just doesn’t make sense. No thanks. ... show more

  • It's a FRFR for Bass and Bass amp modeling sodtware
I just got this for bass practice in my living room. I had a Spark 40 and it was functional for my 4 string at low volumes. The Spark Live is very good for 5 string Bass. Still very small for its power. In my setup I use the line 3 input in Hi z mode as my bass is active. I slave the thing to my Mac running Bias Fx 2 (any modeler will do) as the on board Bass models are limited in the fx chain. As an aside the onboard bass models are fine for most songs but the lack of octaver bugs me. I'm then able to play may backing tracks and training software from the mac. Also it records the dry signal in my daw. If you use the onboard effects they record wet. I like that when I have the Mac hooked up I can still control it via the Spark App on my phone and use it as a BT speaker all at the same time. The backing tracks are FRFR and the ba@ sounds great. Actually it is the first FRFR I've had that works with bass models. I tested it with my Line 6 Helix and it is solid. ... show more

  • All you need band in a box!
I was blown away a couple of years ago when I got the Spark 40 Watt amp and until now couldn’t imagine how such a versatile and massive sounding little amplifier could be topped. Well, now I know and am very happy to share my experience with it so far. The Spark Live makes gigging and rehearsing a breeze without having to lug around PA systems and dead weight bulky amps. Amazing as that sounds it only gets better. The ability to input guitar, bass, another instrument AND a vocal mic simultaneously with such a clean and balanced sound is just incredible. The options of onboard mixing, multiple effects and amp modeling is fantastic. My wife and I play acoustic sets and the occasional “fam jam” around holidays so now having all of these features in one easily mobile amp/sound system is priceless. All Hail Spark!! ... show more
