I was in the market for a new amp to practice with because my current setup was cumbersome and dated. I am a beginner to intermediate guitar player for reference. The first thing I noticed was the striking look of this amplifier. I love the white color, gold trim accents, as well as the deep red of the handle's underside. It looks great and the Mrs. approves when I have this sitting on the desk or table. During my first setup I knew this would be a much more enjoyable experience than my previous, dated amp and my Zoom digital effects pedal. The 8 built-in guitar tones are great and I found myself chugging in Drop-D for an hour before I even connected the phone app. Holy cow does this little amp pack a punch! I don't know how loud this gets because I'm sure my neighbors would complain if I went past half volume on it. I use YouTube all the time for guitar tutorials as well as backing tracks. I appreciate being able to play the lessons through the speakers and hearing my guitar at the same time. Yeah, you can also use this as a bluetooth speaker and it sounds great. If you want there is an option for a battery. There is a door on the bottom of the amp for the proprietary battery (sold separately). You can take this thing tailgating with music or play some sick riffs anywhere you want. The accompanying app will allow you to configure new guitar tones and set them as one of the 8 guitar tones. There is also a built-in looper that I know was missing on the 1st version of the spark. It works like it should. Finally, there is the option for expansion with the built-in outputs on the back. When I become a rock star, I will be able to tap into the venue's sound system or a larger amp and still use the Spark 2 as my guitar effects pedal. Overall, I have really enjoyed this amp and I have practiced more in the past week than I have in years due the ease of set-up and bluetooth connectivity. This is my first time pre-order an amp, and it’s well worth it. Once connected to the Spark app, it opens a whole new world. For testing purposes, I searched the tune for the Top Gun Anthem and downloaded it to the amp. I can also use backing track on my iPad and stream to the amp by Bluetooth. The moment I started playing, it sounds exactly like the same guitar tune as in the original song. Sounds good! App works good, it is perfect for jamming and practice. Why 4 stars? Drum loops are meh.. And I wish there was more pedal options, such as an octave pedal. It is a beautiful looking amp as well.

If you still over the fence to get the new Spark 2, go get it. It worth every penny, there’s a lot of videos out there with all the features this little amp have. As a Line6 Helix / Kemper owner, this little guy is my “go to” for practice and even small coffee gigs, yes, it is that loud.

This thing is HEAVY dependent on the App software. It crashes constantly on my iPad. An app or amp fireware update completely broke the looper and playback functionality of the amp, and no amount of restoring to factory defaults or reinstalling fixes it. And this just serves to remind me 80% of the amp depends on the app, and without good support, and good quality testing, like is demonstrated now, this thing is easily hamstrung, now, or in the future.
