I recently had to switch to decaf for health reasons. Finding a good substitute for my morning cup is not easy. Thankfully, this comes pretty close. The flavor can be a little weak, but adding an extra dash of grinds and letting seep longer fixes that well enough.

Great coffee! I mix this medium roast Hawaiian decaf 1/3 with 2/3 top notch central American full caffeine medium roast every morning. Very smooth and flavorful. Other decaf beans often detract from the other beans I grind. Will purchase again.

I want to preface this by acknowledging that different batches may have different characteristics and the coffee I received my not necessarily be what other batches may have been like. But that having been said, this coffee was very weak when brewed using my usual method...30 grams of fresh ground beans to 450 grams of water using a Clever Dripper. I had to increase the coffee amount to 40 grams just to get anywhere near the taste and strength I enjoy. Also, the coffee has a slight vinegary sweetness when ground on the fine side ( I use a Wilfa uniform grinder and normally set it to between 18 and 22 depending on the amount of bitterness I taste). I experimented more than usual with this coffee because of it's weak character and for my preference, 40.5 grams coffee to 450 grams of water and a setting of 20 on my grinder gave the best results...for me. My personal preference is to not taste any hint of sweetness in coffee, which always leaves a bit of a sickly, vinegar like aftertaste that has me dumping my cup down the drain faster than just about anything. However, in reading through the reviews, it seems some people enjoy that, so they may not see it as a negative at all. Overall, I don't think I would buy this coffee again. Certainly not the worst I've ever had, but compared to Tim Hortons at a much lower price, and in my opinion a better tasting cup, I'll keep searching for something better. ... show more

I first found Kauai Whole Bean Coffee at Costco and tried it. It is excellent, but I was happy to find Kauai on Amazon as things come and go at Costco. I receive it monthly on a subscription basis and love it!
