  • Husband is Obsessed
Style: Berry Cotton Candy (Ground)
My husband is obsessed with this coffee brand so I ordered him multiple flavors for Christmas. Positives I think the packaging is really fun and catchy so it was fun to shop for these! There is a variety of different flavors to choose from! I was amazed how many options there were. It tastes great and does not give either of us the “jitters”. Smells good! Negative (only one). Only thing is I wish it wasn’t so expensive, but we will continue to get this coffee as it has become his new favorite! ... show more

  • No chemical taste
Style: Holy Cannoli (Whole Bean)
I've tried a number of Bones Coffee flavored coffees, and none of them have had a 'chemical' taste; and I've got a very sensitive palate. Not all of their flavors are *good*, but none had a chemical taste. I've seen some comments stating it does, so I wanted to make that clear. I haven't bought multiple versions of the same flavor, so it's possible there is variance from batch to batch, but so far it's been consistently a good product. Fresh and grinds well. ... show more

  • Greatest coffee!
Style: Butterscotch Caramel (Ground)
As an amateur coffee expert, I can say for certain that highland grog from Bones coffee is by far my favorite. It's so smooth and flavorful with absolutely no bitter after taste. I highly recommend doing fine grind with a good 12 hour soak in the fridge. The cold brew is the best coffee experience you can possibly have. The salted caramel flavor makes this as delicious as a gourmet latte from any coffee shop without adding anything to it. Drink up and enjoy! ... show more

  • The smell alone is amazing!
Style: Pumpkin Pecan Praline (Whole Bean)
I'm a bit ADHD when it comes to coffee - I have specific brands/types that I love, but tend to mix up what I drink as I get bored if I have the same type or flavor every day for months at a time without changing it up. Since I have the luxury of working from home, I get to choose what sort of coffee I have, and so like to go out of my usual stuff every so often to keep from that boredom. Out of the normal roast styles, I am particularly drawn to medium and light roast, as dark roast presents itself to me as too bitter and is harsh on my stomach. Medium roast occasionally has that same issue, but will depend on the brand. So, on to the actual review of Bones Coffee Pumpkin King Pumpkin Pecan Praline coffee! It's a medium roast, and is one of the medium roasts that aren't too bitter, so that's win #1 right there! When I opened the package containing this pack and another (I also got the Mudslide Boogie, which I haven't tried yet), the smell coming from the Amazon box it was in was amazing! Opened Pumpkin King to grind the beans, and the whole house smelled of pumpkin spice, pecans, and coffee, and it lingered for several house after grinding them. Win #2! I've had somewhere around 12 twelve ounce cups since I got it, and it's super mellow, barely a hint of bitterness (exceptionally low for a medium roast, in my humble opinion), and easy to drink. Wins #3 and #4! While this isn't enough to replace my all time, ultimate favorite coffee (highlander grogg), it is a VERY close second place! While I'm loving the Pumpkin King flavor, I also can't wait to try the Mudslide Boogie! ... show more

  • BELIEVE THE HYPE
Style: Irish Cream (Ground)
Doubted it. Tried it. Subscribing to it. Irish Cream flavor in the straight brew is outstanding, calls for little additive, and that's coming from a "black coffee is for medicinal purposes only" paradigm person. Went right back and ordered several other flavors. BONES paying attention to the profile...killing it. Pricey, won't be my everyday, but maybe my main side piece brew. 🤔 ... show more

  • It kinda/sorta delivers on its promise
Style: Cinnamon Roll (Ground)
I used 20g of the ground coffee and 200g of water to do an immersion brew, ramping the water temperature from 140f to 210F over 2.5 minutes. Then I filtered it in a Chemex, resulting in 140g of coffee. It does deliver an aroma somewhat resembling a cinnabun, but it's more like a crude approximation rather than the real thing. Same for the taste, but less so. So.... perhaps my brewing procedure for this coffee is off? IMHO, I think the company should write on the package what their recommended brewing procedure is, so that we can reproduce their method and thereby be sure of getting the same taste that they're touting. I could try dialing it in by running a lot of brewing variants, but after this first exposure I'm just not convinced that it would be worth the time or that the result would be much improved. Major negative: nowhere on the packaging does it indicate the roast date (at least none that I saw), so maybe it's just sat in an amazon warehouse for who knows how long? I did open the package and tried it on the day it arrived from amazon, so there was no delay on my end. Overall? No, I won't be reordering it. I don't find it enjoyable to drink. In fact, I'll be round binning the rest of the bag, which means I just had a roughly $18 cup of meh/bleh coffee. For somebody else, maybe adding milk and sugar to it would improve the result, but if you're going down that path, maybe you should just bake a cinnabun and have a bite of it with a good cup of coffee? That would be the gold standard. ... show more
