I was in the market for a new amp to practice with because my current setup was cumbersome and dated. I am a beginner to intermediate guitar player for reference. The first thing I noticed was the striking look of this amplifier. I love the white color, gold trim accents, as well as the deep red of the handle's underside. It looks great and the Mrs. approves when I have this sitting on the desk or table. During my first setup I knew this would be a much more enjoyable experience than my previous, dated amp and my Zoom digital effects pedal. The 8 built-in guitar tones are great and I found myself chugging in Drop-D for an hour before I even connected the phone app. Holy cow does this little amp pack a punch! I don't know how loud this gets because I'm sure my neighbors would complain if I went past half volume on it. I use YouTube all the time for guitar tutorials as well as backing tracks. I appreciate being able to play the lessons through the speakers and hearing my guitar at the same time. Yeah, you can also use this as a bluetooth speaker and it sounds great. If you want there is an option for a battery. There is a door on the bottom of the amp for the proprietary battery (sold separately). You can take this thing tailgating with music or play some sick riffs anywhere you want. The accompanying app will allow you to configure new guitar tones and set them as one of the 8 guitar tones. There is also a built-in looper that I know was missing on the 1st version of the spark. It works like it should. Finally, there is the option for expansion with the built-in outputs on the back. When I become a rock star, I will be able to tap into the venue's sound system or a larger amp and still use the Spark 2 as my guitar effects pedal. Overall, I have really enjoyed this amp and I have practiced more in the past week than I have in years due the ease of set-up and bluetooth connectivity. I got this amp to replace my Spark Mini, because i need something a bit louder and the new features, like the looper and the option to have 8 presets active instead of 4. Also it's nice to have all the different knobs for the amp physically unlike the Spark mini where you have to go into the app each time to adjust the reverb, treble, gain etc. I really like it but one thing to note when buying this amp is that the amp doesn't come with good presets ready to go, you HAVE to use the app and switch them out as the ones the amp comes with are terrible. I don't know who idea's it was to ship it with those presets but it wasn't sensible. So don't really expect to get the Amp and be able to start playing with good tone presets out of the box without using the app first. There are thousands of tones to choose from. You have some official ones from positive grid and many user created tones, as well as ones you can make with the spark AI. Also if you want it to be portable you have to buy the battery separately and put it in the Amp. ... show more

Sounds good! App works good, it is perfect for jamming and practice. Why 4 stars? Drum loops are meh.. And I wish there was more pedal options, such as an octave pedal. It is a beautiful looking amp as well.

This is my first time pre-order an amp, and it’s well worth it. Once connected to the Spark app, it opens a whole new world. For testing purposes, I searched the tune for the Top Gun Anthem and downloaded it to the amp. I can also use backing track on my iPad and stream to the amp by Bluetooth. The moment I started playing, it sounds exactly like the same guitar tune as in the original song. Still exploring other features, but this will surely be my No. 1 choice for practice amp. ... show more

These amps have a serious Bluetooth connection problem right out of the box that requires you to restart, power off, power back up, etc, etc literally dozens of times to get it to update itself and connect by Bluetooth. This is apparently a VERY well known problem that they just haven't, or can't fix. Once I FINALLY got it connected and updated, it works great and had a lot of features that are great for customizing a tone without needing to drag out half a dozen pedals and adjust a million things. I wanted a Dino Cazares tone, said as much into the app and was greeted by dozens from different points in his career and some of them honestly surprised me by how dialed in they actually were. The connection problem leaves me worried about the company though because a problem like that sticking around for many months is far from reassuring, especially when they are $150 more expensive than their competitors offerings. ... show more
