I inherited a well-maintained 2011 CRV with low mileage. So, no bluetooth, USB ports...just a nice FM/AM radio and CD player, (not even a backup camera). I also have a 2015 vehicle that has bluetooth, etc. After getting tired of listening to the same CDs over-and-over, I purchased a screen device that had CarPlay, etc. That unit was intermittent and just okay, but cost just over $100. I decided that I really only needed something that could play music files. Bluetooth wasn't an important feature and I wasn't overly concerned about FM connection as I was planning on going directly thru the car's aux port. I chose this particular unit for a few main reasons: 1. Cost, $23 at the time, (if it suffered early failure, no big financial loss). I looked at the upgraded model and though less expensive, I didn't like the look of it as well as the bass/treble knobs. 2. Size, not large so as to not block a lot of the console 3. Audio output jack, Micro-SD slot, USB slot I have used the device for a week now and I absolutely love it. My 3 criteria were covered, and the unit itself has exceeded my expectations for several reasons listed below: 1. Extremely easy set-up. Plug-and-play at its best. I loaded up a 64gb micro-SD, creating files within files, (my way of creating playlists). The unit recognizes the layout and keeps the folders organized. 2. Bluetooth: Though I wasn't interested in the Bluetooth capabilities, I gave it a try. The unit immediately connected with my iPhone 12 Pro with the most recent iOS installed. Call function was quick and easy, (unlike my previous more expensive CarPlay device). Call went thru quickly and audio quality was clear. The caller could hear me but I had to speak loudly, which isn't much different than in my car with actual bluetooth. So pretty impressive for a tiny little mic. 3. Music sounds fantastic thru my car's factory speakers. I left my car's bass/treble settings as I had them with them both at 4, (5 being the highest). I then micro adjust within the Nulaxy unit depending on how the particular song is sounding. If you press the dial button, that will lead you to some system settings, and there are nicely programmed pre-set equalizer settings. You can also delete files if you want. Button responsiveness is excellent. Skipping forward and backwards is quick. I am using SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC Ultra Uhs-1. 4. My car's sound system volume has a huge difference between levels. For example, if I had it at 5, dialing in 6 would be far too loud. I can leave the car's radio volume at one setting and adjust the volume more finely with the Nulaxy's volume control, which is a lot more refined. I also like how the Nulaxy returns to its main screen pretty quickly if you press the controls to access either the system settings or the bass/treble settings. Other units tend to lag a second too long. 5. You can manually power off the unit so it's not operating while you're driving, or you can just leave it on have it turn off with your car, (as long as your aux power turns off with your engine). What I really like about the Nulaxy is that it remembers where you left off. Not only will it remember if the unit was powered down manually or not and return to that setting when you start your car, but it will remember where you were in your song list, (and within the song), and what your equalizer settings were. It also managed to do this when I unplugged the device from the aux power. This is a very nice feature. I'm not a huge fan of vent attachments, as I have found them to be fairly unstable, block the vent, and then they wind up pulling the fins of the vent in some odd direction that blows the air where you don't want it, so I was a little disappointed that the vent attachment is molded onto the back of the device as I was planning on attaching it not on one of my car's vents. If you do want to attach it to a vent, the fact that it is molded onto the until will make it much sturdier and not have it bounce around. That being said, it is a fairly lightweight device. What I did wind up doing is squeezing the vent attachment into the small storage slot that the older CRV has. I then added a small piece of 3M double stick foam to the edge closest to the steering wheel and secured it to the plastic of the dash. I am so pleased with this setup. It is extremely secure and feels like it's cemented to the dash. It doesn't block any of my controls and the mic is closer to me. I even still have access to place small items in the little cubby space. All-in-all this is a fantastic little unit that costs less than you'd spend on a work lunch. It outperforms some of the more expensive units with CarPlay. Since it is so lightweight it does feel kind of "cheap," but it certainly does NOT perform like some cheap electronic. I would be concerned that the bass/treble buttons might fail at some point, but I think if you are gent with the buttons they should last. I will of course update if anything changes down the road. But even if this Nulaxy only last a year, it certainly would be more than worth it for how it performs and how little the cost. ... show more

I have a 2006 truck that doesn’t have bluetooth! So I searched for an FM transmitter solution that would allow me to use my iPhone through my in-truck sound system. I chose the model KM18 first. It slips into a cigarette lighter power plug & works well. However I didn’t like the way it stuck out & it was awkward for me to reach for while driving. So I purchased the KM28 which can be mounted to an air vent & plugs into the same cigarette lighter power plug. Both units produced very clear sound, had adjustable base/treble controls & gave me excellent volume & tone range. I had no trouble hearing music or phone calls in my truck. For those who’ve said they couldn’t hear above the road noise, perhaps that’s because their vehicles weren’t well sound proofed. I had no such problem! I had several clear channels to choose from. And the device connects automatically when I start the car. I rated this a ‘5’ even though the clip that came with the unit wasn’t strong enough to hold it in place without the device slipping down. It also didn’t allow for reaching the back fins on my AC vent. So I purchase a separate clip that had a mount ball that fit the back of the FM transmitter. Problem solved! Phone calls are easy enough to receive or make & callers say they have no trouble hearing or understanding me! Update: 5/21/24: one star removed; unit has been great, but sadly the charging ports no longer work. A real bummer because this is a very nice Bluetooth FM transmitter. Original review: This is a really nice unit. Used FM transmitters in the past and they were sub-par. Horrible reception, constantly disconnecting. Very low sound, and bad call quality. This Nulaxy transmitter is quite the opposite. Visually we love it, kind of has a XM Radio receiver look from the early days. Setup and use are fairly easy once you take the time to get familiar with it. Our XC90 doesn't have an aux port, so we're using the FM transmitter function. The sound is very clear, with very little distortion or static, and next to no delay on sound. The volume and bass/treble adjustments on the unit itself are very nice to have. The volume doesn't need to be all the way up, and don't need to readjust when on a call. The graphic EQ is a cool look, reminiscent of the digital EQs from high end stereos of the 90s. The display isn't huge, however is large enough to indicate what's needed; station, volume, device connected, media playing, and a digital volt meter. Nice touch. Have yet to try the usb/media card playback. (Road trip)! These are also neat features to have. Mounting is relatively easy and simple with the thumbscrew nut for the vent clamp. Makes install/removal simple. We used it to mount in the pocket below the factory display on the head unit. The LED ring can be adjusted to almost match your interior color, or you can leave it on the rainbow color. Overall the sound is very crisp and clear, almost as good as in our other (newer) vehicle that has a factory Bluetooth. Now it's not perfect, but a very good product. Sound quality will be subject your vehicle stereo system, antenna strength and station signals in your area. Real criticisms: it would be nice if all the buttons were backlit. This would make it easier to use at night if adjustments are needed. Option to turn on the digital EQ. Mounting swivel be on a removable plate, rather than built into the housing. And having a flat plate for the back with adhesive. Giving more flexibility for mounting options. Overall very satisfied. We can utilize the great factory sound system without an expensive replacement and all the headache that can bring with a fiberoptic sound system. ... show more
