Description

Many Super Smash Bros. fans grew up playing Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube system, and some will always prefer that system's controller. The Nintendo GameCube controller also could be used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii. To honor that devoted loyalty to a classic way to play, Nintendo is introducing an adapter that lets up to four original Nintendo GameCube or Wave Bird controllers work with Wii U.

  • Gamecube controller perfection.
With the release of Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, what better way to play than with a brand new original Gamecube controller from Nintendo? As a competitive Smash Bros. player, how a controller feels and functions means a lot to me, mainly due to the sheer amount of inputs done during gameplay. That being said, this controller is simply fantastic. It has almost the exact same design of their original version of it, and I must say that I think it feels better. The analog stick and c-stick both move very smoothly, allowing for precision when moving in game. All the buttons on this controller have a smoothed out finish and dont click loudly. All of them have a nice, quiet, deep clicking noise. The shoulder buttons are your typical Gamecube controller types, except that these feel better in general. The best part about this controller is the length of its cord, it's at least twice as long as the original! All of this glory is tied together with the Smash Bros. logo above the start button at the upper center of the controller. This controller is a must have for playing Smash Bros, or even your old Gamecube titles if you still own the console. Or maybe just keep it as a work of art to adore like I do. Nintendo controller perfection.... period. ... show more

  • Bring on the Nostalgia!
This controller is great and feels just like the original from back in the day. The buttons are very responsive with 'crisp' tactile feel. The grip is basic (like the original controller) but comfortable. If you're new to the controller, and plan on playing a lot, be prepared for hand cramps/pains. Your hands are probably not used to the shape and button placements, so it will take a while for your hands to adjust. The L and R buttons have the same two levels of tactile response that the original controllers have, which is important for many games. The plastic is durable and does not feel like it will easily break. The buttons seem durable, but dedicated players (especially Super Smashers) will probably burn through at least one controller in their lifetime. If you're getting this to use with the Wii U or for PC, get "Mayflash GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U and PC USB, 4 Port" to go with it (links aren't working, sorry). Google guides for setting it up, and you'll be good to go. I use mine with it and Dolphin (emulator) and the responsiveness is AMAZING. The cord is really long (close to too long) which is the only thing that comes to a complaint about the controller. Would recommend. ... show more

  • Okay quality
I have played with a brand new one before and this used one certainly feels used in term of the joystick. To be expected. Buttons don't feel crisp either but overall it's okay... Would recommend buying a completely new one for the price if you're serious about playing/competing.

  • In my opinion it's the best controller ever designed
I'm a semi-competitive Smash Melee player and what else can be said about the Gamecube controller that has not yet been said? In my opinion it's the best controller ever designed. These new "Smash" brand controllers significantly decreased the price range of the Gamecube controller which is a good thing. I have purchased a few "Japanese White" brand controllers and I prefer the feel of these "Smash" brands along with modified OEM triggers. I'm not sure if the issue has been fixed but these newer versions used to have a trigger manufacturing defect where they would sometimes get stuck. I simply replaced my triggers using a Tri-wing with old OEM triggers and the thing feels fantastic. Keep in mind new controllers need like 100 hours of play to break in, If it still feels wrong after that try buying another one. No two controllers are made the same, after all. ... show more

  • Fantastic GC controller from Nintendo themselves
This is a brand new first party GameCube controller which works on the original GC and Wii, not just a differently shaped Wii U Pro Controller. If that alone isn't enough to sell you: it's a high quality GameCube controller from Nintendo themselves, and feels absolutely excellent. None of those low quality third party buttons that will likely end up dying on you after a few months, broken triggers, etc- this is the real deal, even if you are stuck with a Smash Bros logo on it. It is worth noting that the product I received was a Japanese version, but the differences are only on the box - the controller itself is identical to any other regional release, and there's no region locking or anything like that for standard controllers. Definitely worth a buy before getting a new one will run you a crazy amount of money in a few years. ... show more

  • Great controllers!
My two third party (GameStop brand) controllers of maybe 10 years both had joystick problems. One would keep sticking, and the other can't go anywhere but up anymore. I recently started with game collecting again and playing at a more frequent basis, so I decided on replacing them with Nintendo Super Smash Bros ones. LOVE the packaging. I wish I could save the boxes to display, but we live in a small condo for now with limited storage. The controllers feel like a quality item when you hold it. All the buttons work, and you won't need extension cords! I can play comfortably on my couch which is maybe 11 ft. away from our TV. (You can see pics from other reviews about how long the cord is compared to an original GameCube controller.) Note: I use these controllers on an original Wii to play my GameCube games. ... show more
