Although the quality of this cat tree is a little lower than what I have now, I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. At about $30 for multi-levels with scratching posts when I ordered, it turned out to be a pretty good value. The pressed boards are fairly strong despite being thinner than I'm used to, and the components all screw together securely. Even with my arthritis, it was simple to put together, and took me only about 25-30 minutes total. The pictoral instructions aren't perfect, but it's easy enough to figure out. I'd call this light- to medium-duty. My biggest cat is a large & lean 20lbs and doesn't fit on the top bed, but he still jumped up on it and it was able to hold him without tipping or creaking. I'm not sure how much it could take of his weight though, considering the top bed is only held in with one screw. At least it seems well balanced. I think this is best suited for small breeds and light kittens. It isn't heavy duty but is still functional and enjoyable for them. I do like that all the parts are separate and screw in without dedicated hardware attached; this means I should be able to replace the scratching posts and platforms when they wear out -- unlike other cat trees & scratching posts my cats have torn apart. I'm comfortable giving this 4 stars, even though it's still new. Just keep in mind it's better for smaller cats. I'll come back to update if any issues or surprises come up as it's used. ... show more
