  • Decent hammock, poor tent
Color: Camou Size: Hammock
Works very well as a waterproof sleeping hammock. Keeps out the rain, easy to set up, comfortable for side sleepers, and with a warm sleeping bag inside you won’t notice a chilly morning. If you have a small fire going at 10pm you will be fine until the morning chill (for my area that’s below freezing for a few hours before dawn). Pouches for storing personal items at each end at convenient places and loops inside to hang a light. Zipper opens and closes with little effort even when untangling from a sleeping bag at 2am. hanging are durable and simple, and although the carabiners FEEL cheap they basically weigh nothing and I haven’t hesitated to sit in the tent. When on the ground you get a bug proof shelter that is wide enough for you to be supine with your things, but you will not be able to sit up fully without touching the top. Two medium sized adults could easily lay down inside at the same time on sleeping pads (I’ll let you know if I ever try that). Problems would be that setting it up as a tent, with the rain fly working, will take a bit of work. It will almost for sure be touching the tent itself and get you wet although if you spend more time on it that could also be fixed. This is mostly just to say that if you need to ground camp you will need firm ground or places to fix extra spikes. You are only supplied with two spikes, which are good quality and do fine for the intended setup, but you will need at least 4 more stakes. Sharpening a few sticks has never bothered me but prepare for that. In general I would only care if morning weather is colder. There is a problem where the hammock formation likes to swing upside down when there is no rain fly. Could just be my inexperience with them and when sitting in the hammock there is no problem with swinging the wrong way up. I’m also perplexed as to exactly how you are intended to leave the fly open so that you don’t have to undo it or have it hanging in the way. Again, a problem five minutes of thought could solve when setting up. General material could be more “rugged”, but with the trade offs of much more weight (the product is very very light, just two small poles and same material weight as you will notice for a one person tent) and of course I would expect double the price. It may seem like there is more negative than positive in this review. That’s because everything about the presented product is good. You are marketed a hammock with the bug/water proof qualities of a tent and it does that job well. The secondary “ground tent” usuage should be kept as a backup thought. The camouflage is alright and mostly purchased because other options weren’t available and who really cares. This design with a greater variety of colors could easily be a contender product to compete with any of the, in my opinion, weak fare solo tents. If I’m camping in the cold I care less about the bugs and usually don’t even bring an enclosed tent, so this thing has really filled a hole in my camping year. Having to clear a ground space, usually killing plant life and interrupting bug life on the ground, is annoying and in bad taste during the warm seasons. I’m sure a lot more of these will be coming into the market but for now this is basically your best option off of Amazon. The price is fantastic if you just want a bug proof hammock for occasional use. 4/5 stars for my wet sleeping bag when sleeping on the ground. Took me the third night of a trip to get it right. ... show more

  • Good for the money, be careful with material
Color: Dark Green Size: Hammock
For the price, this is a great purchase. I plan on using it for float trips and light hiking / camping. It assembles in minutes and works as advertised. I'm 5'10 and have a good foot on either end. The supports provide enough width so it's not squeezing your shoulders / sides and it lays relatively flat if you rig it up correctly. The interior hook fell apart within minutes of hanging a small tent light on it. Reached out to customer service and have not yet heard back. In the meantime I have used some duct tape and a bread tie and it's good as new. I also bought the under quilt and it seems to be great quality. Overall I'd recommend this product to anyone with light camping needs. ... show more

  • Great
Color: Dark Green Size: Hammock
This is the first hammock with built in net that I haven't had to return after one trip (1-2 week use at a time). This is sturdy and did not rip, tear or stretch at seams, zipper, etc. The zippers were great quality, the mesh is thick and straps are sturdy. The rain fly is an added bonus, very easy install without having to rig ropes up for rain cover. I did have one night on my trip with torrential downpour rain and this kept me completely dry. Highly recommended and I would purchase this again if anything happened to mine. ... show more

  • Best camping hammock for the price!
Color: Army Green Size: Hammock Pro
The media could not be loaded. I LOVE this hammock, hands down best one for the price. Way more comfortable than sleeping on the ground in a tent, I'm a side sleeper and sleep just as well in this hammock than on my bed at home. I camp in this through all the seasons. In winter I add a down underquilt and a down top quilt to keep from getting cold. Works great with a hammock stand too! Nightcat customer service is amazing as well, super quick to respond and very helpful. When my poles snapped in 100mph winds (didn't know we were going to have a midnight windstorm) they sent me replacement poles and a rainfly for free. Couldn't ask for better service! Quality is great, have had this for over a year and use it almost every weekend to camp. It's light enough that I take it backpacking as well as car camping. Comes with a built in bugnet and rainfly. Rainfly works well so long as there's not too much wind, in that case I use a big tarp. Don't use this hammock in high winds though, probably best to be in a tent during crazy windstorms- learn from my mistakes people! Lol I recommend this hammock to anyone who wants to sleep well while camping! ... show more

  • Compact and sleeps very well. Dry as a bone

Great for a single person. Sleeps great when you insert a sleeping bag into the mattress slip. I’ve throughly enjoyed this thing.

  • Super comfortable, versatile and sturdy.
Color: Dark Green Size: Hammock
I love to go camping and have a great sleeping bag and bivvy sack. I was looking for a mosquito net for my bivvy and came upon this. It can be a hammock tent or a regular ground-based tent. You can use the mosquito netting with or without the storm fly. Its versatile and takes up half the space of my one-person tent. It's very roomy - more so than a normal hammock; My friend who uses a hammock almost exclusively when he heads into the woods praised the Nightcat extensively. It arrived one a day that was cold and rainy. I didn't get home until about 11pm and my whole family was in bed. I was so eager to try it out, I tied it on to my backpack and walked a mile into the woods. First time pitching it in the drizzle, wind and dark was very easy. As I got into the hammock the rain started coming down hard. I was dry, warm and comfortable all night. REALLY IMPORTANT: THIS SHAPE SHEDS HIGH WINDS VERY WELL. A few weeks later my buddy and I headed out to an island along the coast. We hung our hammocks as the wind started to rise. It was an awful night because of the loud thrashing we took, but I was snug and safe. Normal hammock flys would have ripped off but this one stayed on all night. The Nightcat took no damage and the fly didn't even shift around. We later found out that the winds were a full gale (40kts) with gusts over 50 knots. ... show more
