  • Good camera with great features and does the job well
Style: 4K Webcam with Larger Sensor
General notes: - The camera is about 2x bigger than a normal webcam - The cord length is a good length - Very simple to use, just plug it into a device and its good - Remote does not come with batteries (2 AAA) - When the camera is booted, it takes a couple of seconds for the video feed to come up Pros: - Picture quality is great - Auto tracking is great - Remote is great, allows tons of flexibility and tons of options and the remote enables the camera to do so much more - Remote capabilities - can turn on and off the camera - can mute the camera’s microphone - control zoom, and position - can enter into the menu and control basically everything you need like the color, brightness, flipping the menu screen, etc. - allows presets for each number on the number pad - allows picture in picture mode - comes with 3 modes: meeting, low-light and streaming mode - allows for the cameras and the remotes to change channels Cons: - The privacy cover does it job but is not the best quality and does not feel good to take off or put back on - The mic is not the best but passable - It is on the bigger and more expensive side My overall opinion of the product. I think it does it’s job, and provides good video quality, and the auto-tracking is great, and the remote allows for tons of options and opens up the camera to a ton more possibilities. The only issues I have with the product are that the privacy cover is not the best quality and sliding it on or off, or taking it off and putting it back on does not feel the best and it feels cheap, the microphone is not the greatest and you can control the mic gain which makes it a bit better but still not the best, and lastly it is a bigger webcam, and expensive so weigh your options ... show more

  • 4K rez webcam, premium build, advanced features improve online call and presentation experience
Style: 4K Webcam with Larger Sensor
Summary: The NexiGo IRIS webcam provides high-resolution video and high-quality input and output audio right out of the box. I have been using it daily for a couple of weeks on regular conference calls with great outbound video and audio. I just started using it in non-desktop presentations – that’s where the “advanced features” that it supports make this much more than a simple webcam and explains its premium price. It excels in three ways: 4K video quality, the smart AI-driven tracking, and actual human technical support representatives who know the product. Video and audio quality: I use the IRIS for business and personal calls on Zoom and Teams, and am trying it out now for presentations at online conferences. It supports all levels of video from 640x480 to 1280x720 to 1920x108 with increasingly sharper images. With the high-resolution sensor it goes beyond that to 2560x1440 all the way up to its 3840x2160 max. However, I have used it mostly at 1080p, which I’ve discovered is the sweet spot for its advanced features. If I used the 4K maximum video setting, I’d probably switch to the supported HDMI, but I don’t see the need for that – yet. The outbound audio sound quality is great due to the noise-reducing and noise-cancelling microphones. NexiGo claims that the noise reduction works up to 20 feet away. I can attest to it working 12 feet out with some minimal background noise. I haven’t tried it with heavy-metal pumping away in the background. Advanced features: What’s different from other webcams is the “ONBOARD AI” – it automatically keeps me in frame or tracks same as I move. Standing back about 8 to 10 feet from the IRIS, I can move from left to right, forward and back, and the IRIS tracks my movement and keeps me centered in the frame. Note that the webcam doesn’t physically move but adjusts its focus to my position – panning left or right, up or down, within the physical range of the fixed camera. I will take the IRIS into the office for my next brainstorming meeting around a whiteboard on our end and colleagues on Zoom in other offices. Being mobile during a conference call promises to change the meeting dynamics – I can scribble ideas and formulas on the board, turn to address other people in the room, and move around rather than sit the whole time. Construction: The IRIS webcam looks sleek, has a metallic case rather than plastic, and a sliding panel for privacy. One concern that I had when ordering the IRIS was that it would be too large – the photos online make it look big but in real life it doesn’t look out of place top of one of my two 27” monitors. I think the online imagery is meant to accentuate the size of its sensor which NexiGo claims “the largest sensor on a webcam.” The IRIS has a large mount that holds it securely on the top of my monitor. Its USB cable is longer and about twice the thickness of the $50 webcam it’s replacing. It comes with a plastic remote control that is essential for configuring its advanced features. The remote has a numeric keypad on the lowe 40%, and a set of bespoke buttons on the top 60% for operational (zoom and panning) and access to the menu. Technical support: I was surprised to see that NexiGo has placed either a link or QR code to its support site just about everywhere you look in the manuals or on hardware components. And there is actually support available – as I set up and experimented with the IRIS I ran into two problems: 1) the un-downloadable firmware update threw two errors: “This file is executable and may harm your computer” and “USBUpdateTool.app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified” (this isn’t unusual with Macs); and 2) more importantly, I couldn’t get the auto-framing and auto-tracking in the ONBOARD AI working. NexiGo’s phone support is available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm PDT. I called on a Monday at 11:30am my time on the east coast, with low expectations due to a lot of experience with low-rent call centers in distant time zones. The support number answered and offered a choice for tech support. After a five-minute wait with upbeat music, a tech support person answered – she was very pleasant, professional, and well-versed in the IRIS product. She confirmed my concern about the Mac firmware updates, advised me to switch to 1080p for the ONBOARD AI features, told me to turn off auto-framing if I was using auto-tracking when I’m at the keyboard, and briefly put me on hold while she checked with the developers to confirm that auto-tracking works best at 3 to 12 feet from the IRIS. It was an excellent tech support experience. Support is also available over email. Set-up and user interface: There’s a 4-megabyte DMG file (that is, the Mac installer format; it’s 2MB for Windows) that’s quickly downloaded from the Nexigo.com/software page. All configuration settings and adjustments are made through the remote control that brings up a menu with all its options. Besides setting defaults, the remote supports some advanced features while you’re using it – for example, on a Zoom call, I have zoomed in to fill the screen with my image while speaking or panned to add a colleague at my side. These options have made my Zoom and Teams calls a bit more vibrant than my usual talking head. Bottom line: A high-resolution webcam with premium build quality and advanced features that opens up more video options that have already improved my online call and conference presentation experience. ... show more

  • High visual fidelity webcam
Style: 4K Webcam with Larger Sensor
The Nexigo Iris 4K Webcam stands out with its image sharpness, clarity, auto-framing and low-light performance, surpassing the Logitech Brio 4K (my current webcam). However, it is held back by software issues, with the application being quite buggy and regularly, especially an inability to preview different resolutions and frame rates. Other features like picture-in-picture and screen recording are available and nice to have, which I also tested out, but they were less useful in my personal use case. Overall, despite some of its software shortcomings, the Iris's superior image quality makes it an appealing choice for those looking for the highest visual fidelity in a webcam. ... show more
