The tracking and auto-focus capabilities enabled by AI are two of the most impressive aspects of this camera. It is quite similar to having a personal camera already installed on the device. No matter how much I move about, the camera is able to follow my motions and keep me on the screen thanks to its clever tracking capabilities. This comes in very handy during presentations and video conferences, when I want to seem professional but don't want to have to modify the camera angle all the time. Even if I move around or if there are numerous individuals in the picture, the auto-focus can keep everything in perfect focus because of its lightning-fast speed and pinpoint accuracy. The quality of my video footage as well as the quality of my online meetings have been greatly enhanced by this function alone. Another fantastic improvement is that there are now twin omnidirectional microphones included. The recording quality is excellent, and it captures my speech with an impressive degree of precision while simultaneously reducing the amount of ambient noise. I’ve been doing Zoom physical therapy and personal training sessions since the beginning of the pandemic, and got tired of constantly repositioning my laptop with its built-in camera so the therapist & trainer could see me as I moved through the exercises. I knew PTZ cameras existed, but they were prohibitively expensive. When I saw the 1080p version of this camera, I figured I might as well try it—but didn’t expect much, because it was a fraction the price of other PTZ cameras. Turns out it works shockingly well. Setup was pretty much plug-and-go. I did download the app so I could choose the settings that worked best for my use case, but I think even that is optional. The video quality, according to the therapist and trainer, is very good, and the built-in audio is good enough (I think it works with external mics too, but haven’t needed to try one). Its optical zoom range is not quite as long as some of the more expensive PTZ cams, but it’s enough for my purposes. It does a great job of tracking me as I move around: the only times it has stopped tracking are when I’ve been flailing around with my hands during the exercises, probably unintentionally making the hand motion that instructs the camera to stop following. All in, the earlier version of this camera has been one of my best tech accessory purchases. So much so that when I needed to set up another location with a camera, I bought this new 4K version. Works exactly like the 1080p version, but with even better video quality.     • Would be great with an Optical Zoom!

UPDATE: Obsbot has replaced my defective camera. The service was quick and they were helpful to replace it at their cost. I will update this review once I have a resolution from Obsbot. My Tail Air camera was essentially defective right out of the box. On the first video I filmed there were lines across the screen. I thought perhaps this was just artifacting because of the wireless stream to my phone. When I saved the video to the SD card and checked the footage it was still there. After many power cycles on and off the problem went away. The next time I used it, it happened again. Then didn't reappear for a few weeks. I found that when I'm in landscape mode, it happens, but if I click portrait mode, the lines and artifacts disappear. It is strange behavior. I should have returned the camera to Amazon right away and gotten a new one. I sent photos of the problem to Obsbot and they agreed the camera was defective and will be replacing it under warranty. Now for the review of the camera itself. It is fun, cool and does some nice things. Occasionally the AI tracking will freakout and sometimes it appears to have a mind of its own. The digital zoom is very bad, so I would not use it for anything unless your subject is very close. If they made a version of this camera with optical zoom, it would be amazing. (4/5) ... show more
