Ok I have had this for several weeks now and I can tell you my big ole fur ball cat Forrest absolutely loves it. The upper level on my old one was about 10 X 12 inch and he struggled to fit on it but I can tell you on this new one the upper levels are waaay bigger and he has plenty of room. I did mention in my lower part of this review that I attached it to the wall and it is the way to go. A few "L" brackets and small screws secures it for even the wildest jumps on it and off of it by my boy! There are many many scratching sections for him and he enjoys them from all angles. I have had a few of these cat tree's and this one is by far the best. Buy it and let your cat tear into it, they will love it. _______________________________________________________ Really well made and very sturdy. Start by opening box and organizing your pieces. Easiest if you start the project on a table, dining table or other. Way easier to work at waist high or so ,instead of bending over. The instructions are excellent and I also have the pic pulled up on my 43 inch monitor so I can see it piece by piece. Once I had it together and made sure where I wanted it in the window and doorway I used a couple molly bolts, one under each of the top perches, I tapped them into the wall under each one and it made it way more sturdy. So far my huge cat named Forrest hasn't touched it, but he'll come around, he's still hiding from the commotion of putting it together :-) ... show more

This tree only took me about 30 min to build, it was easy and it seems to be the favorite for the cats when they watch the birds outside.

It took about an hour to put together because it had a million pieces. The boxes needed assembly, which I've never had to do with other cat trees. That was ho estly the hardest part of assembly because it was awkward. Overall, easy assembly. My cats started to enjoy it before it was finished, had to shoo them away. They love the top 2 beds and the boxes. The jingle bells on the top 2 toys are so cute and my cats love them. Downside is the 3 balls on the separate post. They were not pre-assembled and do not screw in. They just sit there. If you have an aggressive player, these may be a hazard. However, if you choose to leave them off. You can barely notice they're missing. So at least that is an option. My cTs haven't even played with those yet, so we'll see how those hold up. Love the thick padding on the top beds. One of my cats lays in those all day. Much more comfortable than just a board and felt. This was the reason I chose this cat tree, and I'm so happy I did! ... show more

it came flat-packed and is made of nice materials but the holes weren't drilled properly - you might need to drill some of your own holes to make it go together properly

This takes up little space but has great height. They love the 2 cubby holes. The levels are close enough the my old man cat is again able to get to the highest level and he loves it! Pro's: All the pieces were here. None of the pieces were broken. The pieces were very clearly marked. Holes were drilled in all the right places, in both the wood and the cloth. I put it together by myself in 2 hours, and it took that long because I kept getting interrupted by phone calls. It's very sturdy. It is very attractive. I love the light grey. It doesn't take up much space. Con: It's too small for cats. My 12-pound cat (average size) is too tall to crouch down low enough to even look into the house. No way he could squeeze into it. He did jump up onto the tree, but then he was clearly nervous about the narrow platform. He wanted down but was hesitant because the lower platform was much too narrow for him to land on, so he needed to jump beyond it, but it blocked his vision of the floor. Cats don't like it like when they can't see what they're trying to land on. He jumped anyway, but now he won't have anything to do with the cat tree. I don't blame him; it isn't designed for the average American Short Hair, which is to say, most cats in this country. So I called a local cat rescue to ask if they might be able to use it in their kitten room. It's questionable, because by the time a kitten is old enough to be able to climb, they have only weeks before they'd be too large for it. The rescuer laughed and said, "Let me guess. You got it from Amazon." She said she hears this same story all the time from Amazon customers because most of the companies who sell cat trees on Amazon photoshop pictures of cats onto their products to make us believe the products are suitable for average sized cats. Some of them even use the words "big cats." Apparently China doesn't have truth-in-advertising laws. They know that most of us won't take a cat tree apart after we get it together, and then try to figure out how in the world to squeeze all the pieces back into the box, and then get someone to help us carry the box out to the car and then from the car to the UPS. We fall for it, we don't return the worthless thing, and we get laughed at by cat rescuers who have an overabundance of tiny cat trees for tiny cats. This seller emphasizes the size of the cat beds, because those aren't as undersized as the rest of it. My cat never got as high as the beds because the ledges are too small for him. Even if he had, just look at the customer photos of cats on those beds. They looked cramped and unable to shift their position much for comfort. I wish their owners would really look at them. The cat rescuer did take this tree for their kitten room, and she sent me a video of them enjoying it. So if you have kittens and are willing to pay this much for a tree they'll soon outgrow, this tree is a great choice, and then you can donate it to your local rescue's kitten room. Philanthropy is good, and it feels good. But if you want to buy a tree for a full-sized cat, this one won't do at all. ... show more
