  • Great product for a great price
I was unaware of how this would work, I gave it a try and it was easy to use and unexpensive

  • Works great, only negative is some camera vibration
Really impressive for the price and I get some amazing shots with it that’s not possible handheld! My only minor nit is with my camera (a mirrorless with a lightweight lens) I do get some very minor vibration/jerkiness in the footage presumably from the stepper motor, but it is 100% smoothed out using Final Cut Pro’s stabilization feature. ... show more

Size: 100cm
This slider is amazing. It is extremely user friendly and I was shocked that it came assembled. I had it up and running in less than 30 minutes. I am looking forward to utilizing it for my product commercials and interview segments.

  • Comes with speed set too low - eventually Neweer tech resolved
Size: 100cm
Bottom line is, this is a good motorized slider for the price (if you can get it for under $275). Runs a Blackmagic 6K Pro with 16-35/2.8 lens nice and steady. There are a couple of important items to note, so please read this if you are initially frustrated: 1. you HAVE to select Gradient: Y if you want it to stop/start smoothly on each pass. I have no idea why this isn't the default, but I bet a lot of people are returning this because they can't figure out how to make it operate smoothly. Its buried in the instructions somewhere, but who reads those anymore? 2. The controller box is maxed out at a speed that is just too slow for most us. The movement is barely noticeable on camera. Obviously, need to speed that up right? Well Neewer product people apparently were getting too many complaints that the motor was too loud at the required speeds, so they stopped it via firmware from going fast enough. I got this info from the super nice and helpful Neewer customer service rep based somewhere in NJ who called me after I posted my frustrations in the questions section. However, a different Neewer rep based offshore somewhere emailed me a day later and sent me a firmware update that resolved the issue (though it did take another round of emails before I got instructions on how to install the update onto the controller). So, I know that a workaround DOES exist, but boy did it take massive effort, multiple back and forth with Neewer, and yes the result is that it's somewhat of a loud slider when going at optimal speed - but honestly most other brands I've used are just as loud or even louder. It's really nothing that can't be fixed in post, just do your best to place it away from your mics, and also record a few seconds of room tone with slider running so you can build a noise gate in post. 3. The rubber belts it ships with don't seem very rugged. Be absolutely sure you don't let anything get in the way of the slider while it's traveling back and forth. If these belts get jammed and stretch out, it may be hard to get smooth movement again. ... show more

  • Bravo!
First of all, it is the right size for most needs. When I bought my first manual slider, I got a 4 footer because it was the longest available and I figured that I could always use only part of it. I regretted that decision because I never needed the full 4-foot run. I repeated that mistake with my first motorized slider. Although I'm sure there are different lengths for this product, I think this is the best in terms of what you will actually use, and most of all, portability! This is a complete kit. With the ball head, Allen wrench and extra screws/adapters, carrying case, slider, battery with charger, built-in bubble levels, and six different kinds of shutter release cables (for time-lapse work), it's all you need in one place. Some slider kits don't come with a ball head or other such device, battery, etc. Another plus is that you can also power the device via a USB-C port. With that option, you should never find yourself without power options. I have never been disappointed by Neewer products. This slider kit is no exception. I tested everything and found no flaws in design or manufacturing. That is not a given these days. I tested a competing slider and right away, I found that the stubby legs for optional placement on a flat surface (table, etc.) were not well-designed and it was virtually impossible to rotate one of them. No such problems with this kit. It has everything you would expect and need. Additionally, things that can be adjusted have gradations, which allow you to repeat prior settings or just make fine, measured adjustments. There are machined holes in the ends for attaching dual tripods or mounting the slider vertically. The toothed belt can easily be loosened or tightened, and the drive gear will give if there is too much resistance. For example, if you forgot to unlock the sliding carriage, the belt will slip rather than break or burn out the motor. That's good. It does mean that you have to be careful if you are doing vertical movements. Check the weight of your gear vs. the give of the belt, or just don't use heavy gear when shooting vertically. These days there are plenty of high-quality, light cameras, including smartphones and small handhelds. Highly recommended. ... show more
