Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very expensive paperweight
Style: Nautilus T618
Update (10/7/2018), it's now October, over two full months since I bought this thing. I am still waiting on Amazon to arrange pickup with a shipper. BUt wait there's more. no less than 6 contracts have been hired to pick this up by Amazon. Each time, something fails in the process. I sincerely hope that Amazon gets this out of my house so I can buy one that works. From Dick's. This is the last large purchase I will ever place with Amazon. I love the convenience of the company, but wow, over two months now. I just would not have believed something to have gone so wrong as this has. I expected better. Here's to hoping they pick it up by Christmas I guess. Review: I did my homework. Looked at the reviews. Felt good about my choice until… First off, I have to say Amazon and the service technicians did an amazing job from both the customer service and problem resolution side of things. I can’t speak highly enough about that part of the experience. The problem started however when the first installer left me with a beautiful shiny new treadmill… without testing it before leaving my home. There’s an argument that this is an oversight on my part which I fully accept. That aside, when I went to try it out, it powered up just fine. The console responded as expected, then I selected a running program and hit GO. Which is when the belt timidly moved about 1/4th of an inch and stopped. I was puzzled. Maybe I did it wrong? Mind you, I am a runner. I am very familiar with treadmill operations and I can read instructions fairly well. Still, I tried several more times and realized I had a mechanical failure on my hands. I texted the installer and his boss came back out. (Which was great customer service in my book so kudos there guys). He was just as stumped as I was so we called Nautilus together and opened a service ticket. We did some troubleshooting with them. This was difficult as they didn’t seem to know how to operate the maintenance mode for this specific model. It was like they were really guessing. It ended up that they made the blanket call to send out all new electrical cables. I waited for a week when they came. Then I waited another week for a service tech appointment. When he arrived and opened the package Nautilus sent he laughed. They sent half the electrical cables needed and, here’s the funny part, an unrelated item that helps to raise or lower the track. The track worked great! Well, he did what he could, still no dice. So back to Nautilus technical support. They decided to send out the rest of the electrical cables and a new controller board for the thing. We waited another week and a half for this. The same guy came out, who was also fantastic and totally competent in many treadmill devices. He affected the repairs and then gave me a grim negative nod. He ended up on the phone with Nautilus for about an hour of further troubleshooting. The end result was that they wanted to send out a new motor as a last ditch attempt to fix the device. No guarantees though. Well, at about a month with living with a new paper weight, I decided to call Amazon to explore my options for making a return of defective merchandise. They totally took care of me too. Now, while the return date is set for Sept 7th as I have a hiking trip scheduled for the next two weeks, at least I know that someone is coming to pick up the hardware at no expense to me (except all the time I had to arrange to be home for the original assembly, the repair attempts and now the pickup). In the end, and after talking with he repair guy who works on many brands. I don’t trust the quality of Nautilus equipment. The repair guy said that he gets a lot of calls like this for both Nautilus, Bowflex and, increasingly, Nordic Track. There was one brand he did say that he does not get calls for unless it’s something like a piece of damaged plastic molding due to shipping issues. That brand is called Sole. So once I get my refund processed I will be buying a Sole treadmill. Specifically the F80 or F85 as I run. He said the lower models are good for walking and light runners. He also said that Sole motors last a lifetime. I am disappointed in the whole experience, hence the single star rating, but I am impressed with Amazon, the people I worked with and the fact that I got a good lead out of the process. I hope this review helps someone avoid the same experience I had in the future. ... show more

  • This treadmill works great for me
Style: Nautilus T616
The media could not be loaded. *UPDATE* 2/1/2019: I've had this treadmill for about 9 months now. I still love it. Although I still haven't gotten deep into everything it can do because it has so many options. The Android app is working fine. It doesn't always automatically sync but it's easy to manually sync. I would buy it again, no question. Remember to lubricate the belt! ----- Original review ----- This treadmill works great for me. However, I have only had it for a couple weeks. I specifically chose this model over the T614 for two reasons: (1) The slightly thicker belt and (2) the dual screens which provide additional information about your workout. I am still learning the preset workout programs. I don't want to comment on those much yet but, from what I have used so far, I think I am going to find that they work out well for me. In manual mode, I like the quick speed/incline adjustment buttons that run along either side of the control panel. These are mechanical buttons you can press to increase speed or incline in 2 unit increments (you can see them in the product photo or my video). I am having no problems with the Nautilus Trainer app on my Android phone. It's a simple app but it keeps track of the main details (calories, distance). It will also dump some information into My Fitness Pal if you want. The only catch I have noticed is that it doesn't always automatically download the data after a workout. Sometimes, I have to manually tap the sync option. Not a big deal. I wish it was a more useful app. The treadmill itself does maintain some info about your workouts so it can provide comparisons as well. If you want a powerful companion app, this may not be for you. Go to your respective app store and check out the app first. I think the Android rating at the moment is lower than it should be. The media tray will safely hold up to a 10" tablet. You can use the included 3.5" cable to plug it into the built in speakers. The speakers are good, not great, and can handle a volume level high enough to hear dialogue and music over the sound of the treadmill. I don't think it's particularly loud but this is a very large piece of equipment. Check the measurements and get a mat. The USB port on the back of the control panel did not provide enough power to charge my tablet. It's probably designed for MP3 players (old school) but I'm not sure. GET THE ASSEMBLY SERVICE I advise you to get the assembly service unless you happen to be very comfortable with assembling machines and furniture. You will need to be relatively strong and preferably have a partner to help. I spent a lot of money on this ($1,000 at the time of purchase) and I want it put together right. This is a machine that is going to experience repetitive motion so you just don't want to make any mistakes. My Amazon provided assembly guy had experience assembling treadmills and did an excellent job. I haven't noticed any faults. Hope that helps. I have also included a video tour of the machine. **Note about the video: The scrambling, static like sound you hear in the video when I turn the treadmill on and later on in the video is my dog's nails on wood floors as they run around and play. The treadmill motor emits just a low hum and you do hear the belt moving as well, also low volume. You should be able to tell in the video. It's not loud. ... show more

  • Could have been more effective.

My review was previously omitted on a fallacy of Amazon's review guidelines.I can write about the pros and cons of the product but cannot mention delivery, the manufacturer, and so on and so forth. Though that would be very important pros and cons for those of you ready to spend roughly $1000 dollars on a product. This review has nothing to do with shipping or seller experience. (I can do that at amazon.com/feedback). Regardless, here is attempt two. What did I like the most about this product? It seems to be sturdy, solid, and well manufactured. What did I like least about this product? It is missing components, some parts are broken and in horrible condition, and the console itself fails to boot up making it a 250lbs paper weight. But this review is strictly based on the product itself. These things have nothing to do with anything other than how the product is in its natural form. So the general attributes of this treadmill did not meet my expectations, thus I do not like this product. Added are some pictures of me setting up the treadmill and you can see for yourself how it looks and performs. To explain the photos, one of them is the box it came in, it looked very nice and promising. I was really excited to open it. The stress fractures, cracks, missing cup holder, and unresponsive console with a blank LED screen were things that I just frankly didn't enjoy. ... show more
