  • If you're thinking about it, just get it.
Color: Green
I wish I picked this thing up years ago, when I first heard about it. I am TERRIFIED of anything with more than 4 legs. I have cans of bug spray in strategic locations, and am really good at throwing a shoe in a pinch. (I live in Florida.) Previously, I have had to ask others to come in and clean up after I have already taken care of whatever bug I killed, but this thing has actually given me bug-killing independence. I have never tried this on a live specimen, but for clean-up, it works AMAZINGLY. I have not found a bug that this thing can't catch, and I've never had one that has fallen out after catching. Releasing the dead bug into the toilet for flushing is incredibly easy, and only the largest bugs need a couple of taps on the side of the bowl to come free. It's also long enough that I don't feel like I have to get too close. For the peace of mind this thing gives me, it's worth every penny. ... show more

  • Perfection!
Color: Green
I have had this for 5 years and it has never failed me. It will grab any bug (outside of the tiniest ones) and allow me to transport them outside. Moths? Yup. Spider? Absolutely? Cicada? Yes, but they will scream very loudly, though that is a function of the bug and not the grabber. 10/10

  • Almost Perfect
Color: Pink
Well, I kinda ordered this on a joking whim after moving back into my place after renovating and not liking bugs and having a frog and a cricket that I couldn’t get back outside. Within the first few days I ended up using it twice in 12 hours for a centipede and a spider with relative ease. I’m on the taller side, so I think I could use a bit of a longer stick, so having a size option would be a nice upgrade. I mean, who doesn’t love the idea about the bugs being farther away from you. . . Got the bright pink to make it even more ridiculous and I kinda love it. I definitely won’t loose it. Works best on the slower not so big bugs. Had a marathon speed running spider I chased around the bathroom for 15 minutes that I would almost get and then it would escape. Possibly some smaller grabbers so you don’t lose the bug when it’s closer to the ground and the grabbers are all spread out. Could possibly use a little stronger of the grabber parts to ensure that the bigger heavier bugs are secure in the grabber. I had a small tarantula that seemed like it was the biggest thing it could pick up. Last thing you want is an angry bug coming after you when you aren’t successful in getting it. Then it would be chasing you! TLDR: bought on a whim, decently happy with it, mostly serves its purpose. Could be amazing with a geles updates or upgrade options. Still happy I have it, it’s a conversation starter for sure! ... show more

  • You never know what might show up next, so it’s good to be prepared!
Color: Green
The 'My Critter Catcher' is a handy tool for catching and releasing those unwelcome guests that occasionally pop up in your house. It's especially effective for slower-moving critters but don’t count on it to catch the tiny, speedy ones like ants or cockroaches. The catcher’s gripping end features two different types of grips, which seem to help secure insects pretty well. At about 2 feet long, it might feel a bit short to some, but any longer, and you’d probably lose control while trying to nab something from a distance. What I love about it is the ease of use. I’ve even managed to catch a little anole with it! The design is sturdy—mine has survived a few drops when I got startled, and it’s held up just fine. On the downside, it’s not the best for really small or fast bugs. If the grip had a finer material, it might be more effective for those tricky little insects. Living in Florida, insects are a part of daily life. You never know what might show up next, so it’s good to be prepared. Using a towel or tissue can be risky, especially if you’re dealing with something like a venomous spider. This tool makes it safer and easier. ... show more

  • I've turned from spider mass murderer to spider saver -- my life has changed for the better!
Color: Green
Seriously, if spiders give you the heebie-jeebies, look no further... In the Pacific North West where the only thing scarier than the meth addicts is the spiders, this is a must have tool. It works well for medium to large size spiders. Smaller spiders CAN be caught with this, but probably not before beating them to submission with the antenna like plastic fingers used to gently pick them up. It's really easy to use: Pull and hold the trigger to hyper-extend the claws/fingers/spider grabbers, and then gently move the bristles so they surround the spider and touch the floor/wall/ceiling surface, release the trigger while maintaining grip so that the claws retract with the speed given by the mechanical tension (don't finesse the trigger, just let go!). Voila. Spider is stuck inside the grip. Pull back gently to ensure; don't be surprised if he/she squeaks through every now and then (especially if you're trying to grab from an uneven surface like a textured wall). Carry the spider quickly outside and pull the trigger again with a little gentle whip like motion and watch the little 8-legged menace turn into a cute little puppy that lands gently, takes a look at you and tries to figure out what the heck just happened, before scurrying off into the bushes to become dinner for your favorite field mouse living in the garden. Minus one star because it's pretty much only good for the mid-large size spiders and it would be cool if it had a way of standing up on its own or having a build in loop for hanging/storage. I keep it behind my front door next to my umbrella. Small spiders no longer bother me based on my positive interactions with the big spiders and this tool. Edit: See photos. Lasts about a year with moderate use. Claws bend and fray too easily and it’s pretty much useless for the smaller spiders. You just keep catching them and they keep falling out. I think the overall value of this items is <$4. Final Edit: RIP critter catcher. I am going to reaffirm what I stated above. I cannot recommend this product. Unfortunately, the bristles break down rapidly when trying to pick up spiders on crown moldings or carpet or any other uneven surface — which is most. Given the limited lifespan of this product I would recommend an alternative tool. Maybe a small handheld portable vacuum with a way to quickly and easily remove the spider and release them outdoors? This device is a firm NO recommendation for me after one year of use. See final photo for details. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work great
Color: Green
Got this to help remove spiders around the house. Often the spiders don’t get trapped properly and end up just crawling on the outside of this thing.
