  • Box was beat up but for the price still worth it
Style: Arcade Machine
The box was in bad condition but for $7 free shipping I can't complain. The game is the NES version so if you like that version then you will enjoy this one. I think these My Arcades are really good quality. The design is excellent with the option of using batteries or an AC plug for power. Also the volume control is really good if you want to play quietly. There isn't much more you can ask for with this product other than the fact its not an arcade version of the game installed on this device which is a bit odd to me. Other than that, I would highly recommend if you don't mind the NES version of the game as there is much fun to be had with this product and its a nice decorative piece for your game room or office. Hope this review helped you out. Thanks. ... show more

  • No Wax On-Wax Off...Mr. Miagi Is In Tears...
Style: Arcade Machine
My Arcade Karate Champ Review This is a review of Karate Champ using a 5-star system, with 5 being the best, 3 being average and 1 being poor. Cabinet/graphics: 4 stars. The marquee is accurate with the 1:1 original, but the bezel art and side graphics are slightly different. Despite this, it looks great as it sits. Screen: 4 stars. Bright, with vibrant colors. Not bad at all. Joystick/Control: 0 stars. Ok. As any of us 80's kids know, Karate Champ was a 2-joystick game. The combination of joystick to buttons is difficult to pull off. Sounds: 2 stars. Could've been better. Game Play: 1 star. NES ROM, and not the arcade original. With the missing 2nd joystick, this version forces you to use buttons, and I've gotta tell ya...the moves are damn hard to pull off consistently. I don't even think they're the same, from round to round, as I've gone to my go-to move, and couldn't replicate it. To make it worse? My Arcade failed to provide even a HINT of how to pull off the combination moves. Nice booklet in the box...not ONE mention of gameplay. Unsatisfactory. Summary: I can't, in good conscious, recommend buying this at the going rate of $24+. Look for it on clearance, if you absolutely feel the need to add it to your collection. I wish this one could've been done better, as I was a huge fan of the original. ... show more

  • It's Karate Champ! Enough said.
Style: Arcade Machine
Obviously not the dual joystick arcade machine. This version control layout is available online. Recommend u download and print out. Understanding the joystick/buttons combo makes the game 5 stars.

  • Not the same as the original Karate Champ.
Style: Arcade Machine
I used to play the original arcade version by Data East in arcades in the 1980's. This is not same as the original game, as far as music, sound effects, background flow, and characters. First off, this starts off on a background that didn't come in the original until you won at least a couple fights. Second, this has music playing that either was just in the credit screens of the original or something else. It wasn't playing during fights in the original version. Third, there is no "girl" animation, nor does the referee say "BEGIN", or "HALF POINT", or "FULL POINT" at all. I don't see new people picking this up without having ever played it in the past. Why would they butcher the game like this? PC gone haywire? I just don't get it. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: Arcade Machine
Bought this for my brother's birthday. It works great, but he found a chest that lets him win every time. Still, the nostalgia is great, my brother is just an epic gamer who can do all the pro gamer moves.
