I like it! The rechargable batteries I tried didn't produce bright lights but the USB direct power connector .. DID!! It's so light weight I can clip it to my music instead of the stand on my grand piano. Only almost laughable complaint is that the manual (shows in my photo) gives a 12 month warranty and thoughtfully offers to answer and question or issue .. but .. leaves Off the contact info .. Entirely lol?? But honestly .. at this price point .. I'm quite happy. Hopefully the LEDs will last and the buttons to turn on each unit will keep working. My Only complaint with the unit is I'd like one button to turn on Both lights instead of having to press two buttons to turn it on. I'd actually .. Prefer .. having No power buttons (one less thing to go wrong) as I'd just connect the USB power source to a Wyze WiFi Smart Plug and turn it on/off from my phone. ... show more

    • My favorite book light

This is my favorite book light. I know it is marketed here as a music stand light, but I use it as a book light. Somebody lost my old one and so I had to buy another. My favorite feature is it uses normal AAA batteries (3 of them). Rechargeables work fine in it too (that’s what I use). I don’t like devices with built-in batteries because that sets a definite expiration on the item and I get tired of filling landfills with items that would continue to work fine if it weren’t for the worn out internal battery. But there is no worry of that here. It lasts many hours on regular nickel metal hydride batteries (the usual ones that come in AA and AAA size), so I don’t need to charge the batteries that often. It has four separate lights, two in each bendy pole and you can choose whether to run one or two in each of the poles. So it’s very versatile in terms of brightness level. The clip is wide and strong too so I can attach it to either the book itself or some object I’m sitting near while I’m reading. I suppose the only downside I can think of with this particular light is, it is heavier than some of the other ones out there. And that is because it has the two separate lights and it uses three AAA batteries which add a little weight to it. Having said that, I still have no issue, attaching it to the book itself that I am reading, even regular paperback books, which can be a little flimsy. ... show more

This works so well, it's got 2 ways of powering it: thru batteries or an USB port (the cord included is long enough to be moved around) and it's flexible and bright with 4 different light settings. I was so pleased with this, I brought another one for my niece to take with her to college come fall.

We were actually looking for artwork lighting but everything we found (which I am sure is excellent) was way too expensive for us. Eventually we stumbled across lights for Music Stands or Books. It looked very promising. We bought three. Two of them look great, as shown in the photos (taken at night in an unlighted room). The third one is not bright enough for the location we have it and the size of the picture. But two out of three is not that bad. We are very pleased that these worked for artwork lighting. I ordered the light to clamp onto my embroidery stand and brighten my project when stitching at night. It works very well for that purpose. The brightest setting is exactly what I needed. The two independently positioned heads allow me to focus both on my project for maximum brightness, or I can shine one on my project and the other on my pattern chart. All that being said, this light gets three stars because the battery case is unusable, so I can only use the light with an external power bank. The batteries push the battery cover out of place and pop out. I tried taping the battery case closed, but the light still wouldn't work because I guess the batteries were still popping out just enough to not make a full connection. I'm glad the light can be powered via USB, at least, and I've been using it that way. However, it uses a proprietary plug instead of a standard micro-USB or USB-C connecter, so if I lose the cord this light will become entirely useless. When I ordered it, I thought the USB power option would mean a standard connector, which was a high priority since I travel often and want to be able to travel with fewer cords when possible. The brightness and adjustable heads are great, so I'm going to keep using it with a power bank to avoid creating more electronic waste. However, I would not buy this light again because of the defective battery case and lack of standard micro-USB or USB-C cord for powered use. ... show more
