My golden retriever is outside chasing balls a few times a day, coming back into the house with dirty feet. My kitchen floor needed daily sweeping. Until: my muddy mat! This rug is incredibly soft, has a DEEP pile, is rubber backed so it stays in place, and looks amazing. You do need to shake it out a few times a week, as it does absorb and hold the dirt, but the pile is deep enough that you don’t see or feel the dirt under your feet. This mat definitely has helped catch dirt and debris from getting spread all over the house and is definitely good at absorbing liquid. However mine seems to be lacking durability. It almost immediately started shedding clumps of the mat all over my floor, even with just light foot traffic. I first thought it was because it was new and maybe had excessive fluff that needed to work out, but it continued to happen quite often. I've had this mat for about 2.5 months now and I just washed it for the first time. It shed all over everything else in the washer and created a huge mess (and I don't have a washer with an agitater either). Once it was dry I saw how much of the mat had come off and it's still shedding on the floor with light traffic. I tried reaching out to Muddy Mat directly since the return window from Amazon had closed and there was no way to contact the seller through here, but I was told this needed to be handled with Amazon. So now I'm out the $40 and have a mat that is creating a different kind of mess in my house. I've honestly had better luck with the cheaper knock off I purchased for our back door which has much higher traffic and has already been washed too. It has not shed at all and also catches all the dirt, debris, and liquid from the dogs coming in and out all day while the name brand is falling apart and leaving little blue pieces of lint everywhere. ... show more

These mats work, as advertised! Place at my door, so whomever enters, steps onto it. I’ve had for several months, and really like it. I just take it, outside every so often, and shake it vigorously, and then put it back. It’s all fluffed up, again. It stays put, seems well made, comfortable to walk and stand on. I’m looking to get one for my bathroom, when back in stock. I have not washed, yet. I plan to throw in the wash, but after shaking it out, it looks fluffy and nice, so I haven’t. I bought this to go at the back door coming into the house. It does trap dirt but not sure if it is any more absorbent than a "regular" thick rug. Very nice though, thick and soft.
