  • Neck Heavy and sharp frets
First of all, let me state that this bass wasn't shipped from any of the music stores currently listed but was shipped from an Amazon warehouse in Fort Worth, Texas. As such, it came in what was probably the worst shipping box I've ever received from Amazon! Normally, when shipping a bass or guitar, the company or music store will use an extra box in addition to the box the manufacture ships the instrument in but the bass I received only had the original cardboard box as it's shipping container and there were numerous punctures obvious on the outside of the box when it arrived via FedEx. Even the FedEx delivery guy asked me if I wanted to refuse the bass. Amazingly, upon opening the box, there was actually no damage to the bass but you'd never guess that from looking at the outside of the box! Now to the bass itself. The fret tangs on both sides of the neck were not smoothed and literally scratched my finger as I changed position on the neck. It was unplayable. Also, from sitting idle in a warehouse for several years, the neck had developed a convex bow...so much so that some of the strings were choked on the first and second frets. Also be prepared that the neck is very wide, even for a 6 string so if you don't have large hands, you might be better off looking at a narrower 6 string bass. Another puzzling thing was there were metal shavings stuck to both pickups. I have no idea where they came from but they were there. If you want to order this bass, I'd recommend you select one of the music retailers listed instead of an Amazon warehouse and hopefully, they will package the bass in more protective packaging than the Amazon warehouse in Texas did. The finish on the body of the bass was nice and the back of the neck was very smooth. Even with a strap, the neck dove downward as soon as you let go of it and it wasn't balance in playing position at all. Of course, if you only play sitting down, this wouldn't be a problem. I never did try it through an amplifier so I can't comment on the sound or pickup quality. Overall, because of the neck dive, sharp fret tangs, and bad packaging, not a good experience. I returned the bass promptly. ... show more
