Make sure you start it in lower elevation first with the gas. I had a hard time at higher elevations, getting the starter to work the automatic starter works well compared to having to sit and press the button over and over and over again like on the old ones.

I had a smaller heater before this one. I love that this one doesn’t blow out in the wind. It’s provides heat from the sides for people sitting next to you. Highly recommend if you have to sit outside for ballgames.

    • Hope it last as long as my old buddy heater
I have the original Mr buddy heater it's about 20yrs old. It been through hell and back still working, only thing is the igniter don't work. Bounced around in back of 4 suvs. Everything from job site,camping and hunting in January. Love it hope this one lasts longer.

    • After a few hiccups. this heater works great!
This unit would not light even after several minutes of holding the pilot lighting button and the control knob, as per the instructions. I even looked up the instructions for cleaning the pilot light tube as outlined on the manufacturer website with no success. After reading the reviews and seeing that a few others had experienced this problem, I am regretting the purchase, however, there were a larger number of reviews from satisfied purchasers. I'm waiting to hear from the seller. My next review will depend entirely on the speed with which they replace this defective heater with one that operates as advertised. AMENDMENT: 3/18/23 The seller responded quickly and helped me troubleshoot the heater. We still couldn't get it to work but they offered to send me a new one. I called the manufacturer and they gave me some tips that worked well\ so I now have a working heater and it works great every time I use it!!! The Mr heater Buddy Flux heater is an amazingly built high quality product and I highly recommend it for any camping enthusiast It's a must-have. Don't forget to buy the cooker You got to have that accessory too.

    • Unreliable. Not for outdoorsman use.
I bought this as a gift for my husband for overnight hunting trips. . He set up the heater at home , read the instructions and it lit prior to the hunting trip. When he went to light the heater during the trip, NO LIGHT!!! He tried in 1 degree chill factor for 45 minutes, then a second family member tried to light it (numb hands by now), but nothing. They were staying inside a trailer, so wind and movements were not an issue. They resolved to using a Coleman cook stove and their truck for heat until daylight. I researched this heater and watched all the You Tube videos before this purchase. I felt secure my husband and family would be warm and safe, but now I'm just happy they were able to survive the Wyoming cold. If you are planning to use this as an outdoorsman unit, please don't.
