Description

2001 release. Double LP is pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Incubus is ready to pave it's own way in the modern rock scene. With the brooding and crunchy musical themes of Morning View, it's almost hard to imagine that the album was written and recorded in the relaxed atmosphere of a California beach house. Drummer Jose Pasillas offers tasty percussive coloring in the breakout single, "Wish You Were Here." the song's trippy verses set against it's heavily strummed choruses fits the profile of push-and-pull dynamics that Incubus fans have come to expect. "11am" touches on regret and indecision with some neo-Eastern flavor and Mike Patton-inspired vocalizing by front man Brandon Boyd. "Float" borrows from traditional Asian music and shows the band's near-fearless spirit of experimentation. Morning View's most eccentric track is the crafted epic "Just a Phase," whose quirky time signature changes and adventurous arrangement show that Incubus has a great deal more to offer than strategically placed turntable scratches.

  • Poor packaging from seller amazing album
Unbelievably shoddy packaging for shipping a record. Just a thing plastic bag and nothing more. Usually records get shipped in a cardboard mailer. Somehow the album wasn't damaged and the album itself is incredible. Just very disappointed with the packaging it was shipped in

  • This was their best.
I remember not liking this album when it was released. It was quite the departure from their previous music. I now have so many great memories tied to so many of the songs. Nothing that followed ever really lived up to it.

  • Great album but..
This is a great album and was well packaged but there are a couple of manufacturing defects that cause it to skip in a couple of places. Not a big deal since 98% of the rest of the album plays fine.

  • Thank You Incubus
There are so many good reviews; I simply nod my head in agreement as I read them Yes, this is their best LP and while I did NOT study music theory, I am still aware that the melodies and orchestration are complex. My boyfriend would write about "cord progression" and the like, and I I say bully for him. I simply know what is good hard rock music and this is good hard rock music that crosses over into other genres and back again. That is what makes Incubus refreshing. Their music is NOT formulaic. This album is their best. I am able to relate in some way to every song, either because of the lyrics, the music or both. I love and appreciate the LP Morning View. This is definitely in my "I'm having a bad day and need something good to listen to" genre as well. To those who gave this album a one or two star rating - really? Why listen to this? Sell it and listen to elevator music. One or two stars? I respect your right to your opinion, but why listen to music you obviously hate? I just don't understand/ Go to the dentist instead and have all of your teeth filed without Novicane (Marathon Man). Get your legs waxed, that's always a joyful experience... ... show more
