  • Nice grill
After searching for some time I decided on this Monument grill. Warranty is good and had good reviews. First off the packaging was excellent, no damage what so ever. Putting the grill together took me (by myself) about an hour and a half. Directions were clear and parts organized logically, also came with a bag of spare parts, screws and what not. Once together grill is sturdy and solid. We first cooked a couple of hamburgers, it did well. Any grill can do that. Next we cooked chicken thighs. Without good heat control it's difficult to get golden brown skin and not burn. This grill delivered, great heat control and even heating across the grates. Very happy. I was looking at Weber grills but for comparable size they are almost 3 times the cost of Monument. So, time will tell on durability but the metal seems quite good and the drip tray (bottom of cooking area) easily removes for cleaning which is what killed our last grill. If you're looking for a reasonably priced quality grill, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Impressive Grill at modest cost
Style: Mesa 300 Grill
I don't normally write reviews for products, but was compelled to write about the Monument Grill because I am so pleased. Firstly in response to many of the reviewers; some complained about the assembly and I was prepared for a lengthy exercise, but including unpacking the parts, I was done in 50 minutes. The carton and packaging are surprisingly excellent, and I believe it would take some real abuse to render any sort of damage enroute. Also for those who are wondering, most of the firebox is preassembled and it is mainly the pedestal/propane compartment that is flat shipped. The directions were excellent and I was particularly impressed by the precision/accuracy of all the parts, there was no bending or manhandling to get things to align. Everything fits and works as it should. The stainless comprises the doors, firebox cover, and side shelves. It seems to be well fabricated and flawless brushed finish. The sides and bottom of the compartment are painted grey but seem to be a high quality finish. Some complained that the wheels are plastic, but I love that they won't corrode and have easy to operate parking brake. The fire box itself is heat resistant coating like the inside of your oven, so easy to clean. The window and thermometer are a great idea. I like the fact that there are 3 separate grates inside, so if you cook on only one area, you only need to clean the one grate, leaving the others behind, just more convenient really. the drip tray is fully stainless steel and easy to remove and cleans up very easily. I have used the grill for a few weeks now and find the heat controls very accurate, easy to maintain a temperature without annoying hot spots. I live in the caribbean with high humidity and salty corrosive air, and bought a cheap cover from Amazon, and is essential to keeping the rust stains at bay, and very pleased so far. It is not a 3 thousand dollar grill and doesn't pretend to be, but in my opinion a great value compared to some other grilles I have seen and used. Some complained that the Monument badge is mounted crooked on the lid, and mine is no exception, and maybe there is a reason for it, but I could care less, the grille works flawlessly, has many great features and looks snappy as well. ... show more

  • Best value
Style: Mesa 400M with Cover
Assembly instructions are pitiful. I relied on a combination of YouTube and Internet videos along with the sketchy printed instructions. Add to this a bit of trial and error, common sense and patience and you'll get it done. The unit feels solid, rolls well. I have limited space on my small porch so I was looking for a grill that featured a shelf burner on the right and a removable shelf on the left. The shelf burner works fine, although they have not improved on the insecure nature of the wobbly grate. However, I was surprised to see that the left side shelf is attached with FIVE fasteners. Once attached, it stays attached. Which is fine for anyone with the room. When I fire up all four burners and close the lid, I can attain 680 degrees in 15 minutes. The controls are responsive and accurate, lowering heat to half is easily done. I recommend cooking with all four burners on, regardless of what you're cooking. The heat is more evenly distributed and maintained. I'm committed to keeping the grill as new and clean as I can, so after cool down I remove the two top grates, the four burner covers and the drip tray for cleaning. Too much? I know, but for now, after five uses, the unit looks impeccable. The four burner covers do not have the traditional slot holes which slip over small metal tips to hold them in place. There are no metal tips or holes on the covers, which I assume, is because they don't last, rusting and breaking off in time. So the covers simply sit over the burners and, they're not moving so perhaps an improved design. The top racks seem okay, they're not heavy duty but they're not cheap either. There's a window through which you can see the food cooking-ish. And those wonderful blue LED control lights are groovy. Mine came with a cover, and it's just as unwieldy as any cover you've ever owned but the quality seems to be very good. ... show more

Well built grill with nice features like the illuminated dials. The instructions are a little unclear but with a little patience you can put it together within a couple of hours.
