I use a liquid everyday that needs to be within a specific temperature range. I used to be able to tell with my fingers or wrists if the temp was accurate, but thanks to a condition called Small Fiber Neuropathy, I have been losing the ability to distinguish temperatures in my extremities. After enough frustration over the temp being too hot or too cold too many times, I finally had the idea to try a food thermometer. This device has been SO incredibly helpful, and I'm just disappointed I didn't think of it sooner. It seems to be consistently accurate, it's quick, and it's very easy to clean. I haven't used it on food yet, but it has worked wonderfully for liquid so far. Would highly recommend! ... show more

Well built. I like it that they sent an extra battery. Shows care. Also the unit turns out automatically as you open the needle. Clear dial. Overall a great useful purchase. Removes the guess work in undue or over cooking chicken.

--Original Review 2/24/2020 -- Received my thermometer today, calibrated it and tested it with just water. I was able to get a steady reading within ~4 seconds in hot, warm and cold tap water. - Nice, large display is easy to read - I love how compact it is, with the probe rotating safely back into the body - It turns on by simply pulling the probe out and rotating it. Probe can rotate 180 degrees - Shuts off automatically after a couple of minutes I would have given this item 5 stars, had it not been for the non-functioning backlight, straight out of the box. I even removed and replaced the battery, all to no avail. Will be returning this to Amazon for a replacement. Hopefully, the second time will be the charm... **UPDATE 2/29/2020** PLEASE READ!! ** I decided to email Kizen directly, rather than return the item to Amazon. Less than four hours after I sent the email, I already had a reply from Kizen Support! Mary apologized for the inconvenience of my receiving a defective item, assured me it was covered by a lifetime warranty, and she promised to ship a replacement out the next day. Sure enough, two days later, the replacement arrived at my doorstep! From the time I received Mary's email, to the time it arrived, less than 48 hours had elapsed! I am pleased to report the backlight on the replacement unit works flawlessly, providing a nice, bright blue display in low-light conditions. This level of Customer Support can be tough to come by these days, but Kizen went above and beyond, not only in how quickly they responded to my email, but stepping up and sending out a replacement unit in one day! Keep in mind, this is not an expensive item, but Kizen takes customer satisfaction very seriously, and I can't say enough good about the way I was treated. This is my 1st digital thermometer purchase and straight out of the box I am pleased. It comes with an "Operators Manual" (short, sweet, & relevant!) including instructions to check the calibration, a handy "Meat Temperature Chart", one battery installed PLUS a spare, an internal magnet so I can store it someplace convenient (or use the enclosed velcro) but... once I remove the protective film that needs to be peeled off, I am left with a sticky residue that can't be removed with soapy water (zoom in on the images to see the residue). Protective films that leave residue on items I purchase aren't necessary and are often rather disappointing because stuff will stick to the glue making the item unable to fully & easily clean. Excellent thermometer for the price. Reads quickly and is accurate. Downside, it does not come with a warranty. Mine lasted almost 2 years and then gave an error message of "LLLL" which means the unit probe is bad. Have decided to purchase a similar thermometer with a limited life time warranty for a couple of dollars more in price. ... show more

This system works well and is easy to operate — once you get the two units to connect. That set-up process is not difficult if you follow the well-written instructions. The two units are 1) a sensor unit, placed near the grill, has probes to measure food temperatures and 2) a receiver unit, placed near the cook, usually in the kitchen. There are two probes, one designed for meat and the other for “food,” which seems to mean any food other than meat. The food temps the probes measure appear in real time on the receiver screen. The system’s best feature is saving both time and steps, and saving time and steps at moments when the cook has to be in two places at once: at the grill and in the kitchen. ... show more
