  • Missing Cover, Otherwise 5 Stars
Not only does Mobscribe include Google Play now, it offers every feature you'd want in a portable e-reader, not to mention being the only waterproof e-ink tablet on the market. It's also extremely lightweight and easy to hold with one hand. It's a bit slow compared to my $500 Boox Note Tab Ultra, but this is almost half the price (and again, the Boox is not waterproof). Battery life is astounding and the UI is very well done. Also the high definition b&w 300ppi plastic screen is unbelievably crisp and is much more resilient and paper-like than a glass screen that other e-ink tablets offer (I'm still staying away from the color e-ink screens due to the poor contrast). For the device itself, it's an easy 5 stars for the price. I'm docking it one star because it was advertised to have come with a case, but the case was not included. The case is a necessity since the stylus is not magnetic. Thankfully Amazon Support was very helpful, but I'll have to manually order the case from the website now since they don't sell it here on Amazon. ... show more

  • Great for a college student
Bought this for my grandson who asked for it to assist him in his college classes. He absolutely loves it. He says it has made his note taking easier plus he can download the reading assignments and read from his Scribe. He does not like to read on a computer screen.

  • Slow and breaks easy they make you pay to return product
I am a head chef at a commercial kitchen needed something for all my recipes and that can survive environment. The speed is far too slow to be productive and though it says waterproof after two weeks of trying to use in kitchen the humidity and moisture makes it no longer work. Spend more on a better product. Lost my money on this purchase, was hopeful but extremely disappointed. I have never ordered from Amazon and the company makes me pay to ship it back that is bad business practice. • E-Ink is the Future
As a full-time uni student, I've been using the MobiScribe Wave for almost a month as of the time this review is posted. This review is based on the use of this device on a regular basis (almost everyday). If you're short on time, here's a brief overview: + Overall tablet looks great + Eye strain is reduced + IPX7 Waterproof Rating is a huge plus, almost all e-readers lack this + Contrast & ability to turn off display light helps to reduce eye strain further - Pen is a slightly flimsy, a more robust design may help - Refresh rates and load times are decent, I wish it was faster - Spotify did not load up for me - Wish the overall tablet was bigger ~ Bezels are not flush, this makes for an interesting design choice Long version: The MobiScribe Wave is a pretty machine built for efficiency in the workplace, college, or just note-taking in general. You might find yourself in love with E-Ink shortly after getting familiar with the device. Honestly, I've never been a fan of traditional tablets with that pesky, eye-straining LCD or OLED displays. I've been in search of a way to take notes that A) limits the use of physical paper, and B) reduces eye strain or spares my eyes from blue light. Fortunately, this tablet does just that. I've reduced the amount of paper I use for notes, and no longer do I have to purchase notebooks for every class. Now, all I can do is create a new folder and make plentiful notes. There's a relatively small learning curve if you've never used an e-reader/e-ink device and also if you're proficient with technology in general, specifically your phone or tablet. It's almost the same, but load times are slower and you have to wait for the screen to refresh often. It's a bit of a lengthier process, but still faster than flipping through pages in your notebook. I'm curious as to how long this tablet will really last, due to the properties of e-ink displays as they have a limited lifetime (as much do other devices). The pen is a tiny bit flimsy, I think a robust design could really benefit the pen in the long run. This is under $250, so MobiScribe does cut a few corners. However, one of the more notable features is the IPX7 waterproof rating, which is not common in e-readers, even some upwards of $500+ lack waterproof-ability (if that's a word lol). I was bummed to see that Spotify didn't load up, the screen remained black. Overall, there's a lot of good and some bad. I highly recommend this e-reader, especially to anyone that has not experienced e-ink firsthand. ... show more

  • Some Great Features and Some Real Promise - But VERY Slow Processing Hobbles Performance
I actually think this is a great item overall. It's really really got a lot to like about it and there's a lot of promise for future versions. The experience of it when in use, however, is a bit frustrating as the processor is painfully slow. I ordered it because I absolutely love to take handwritten notes. I'd been eyeing several of the other variations in the market at the moment, but this one appealed to me for a number of reasons. Price - the price is definitely attractive for the amount of features. It's definitely cheaper than other e-ink tablets that are geared towards artists. Pen - the pen is really what drew me to this tablet. As an artist and a fan of writing my notes by hand in church and in meetings, the ability to quickly transcribe my thoughts and save them or translate them to text was very intriguing. Sadly, the pen performance is very spotty. The processor is super slow, so there's LOTS of lag. The pressure curve goes from hairline thin to blowout huge and it has a fairly high initial activation force. That means you have to press a bit harder than normal for the pen to register (almost like taking notes with an almost dried out ballpoint pen). It makes it less enjoyable to write by hand, but the keyboard is likewise hobbled in performance by the incredibly slow processor. Backlight - the backlight is terrific. It really makes it much more practical for reading e-books. Since it's not great for note taking, this is pretty much the only way I can practically use it at the moment which is fine. Waterproof - the real standout feature of this tablet is that it's waterproof. That's a terrific selling point, honestly, and one I hope they keep on future versions. Conclusion - there's a LOT to like here and it feels like the next version will hopefully be even better. If they can make the pen have lower initial activation force, bump up the processing speed quite a bit, and keep the waterproofing, I think it'll be a winner. If your primary desire is to use it for reading, it's perfect. If you want to use it for note taking, you may find yourself frustrated. ... show more
