  • Making reading easier on this palm reader!
Color: White
The BOOX Palma 2 Mobile ePaper is an impressive and practical device that I’m really happy with. Its sleek white design is clean and modern, and it’s light enough to carry around easily, making it perfect for reading or working on the go. The ePaper display is fantastic—easy on the eyes with sharp, clear text that feels like reading actual paper, even in bright sunlight. I love the fingerprint recognition, which makes unlocking the device quick and secure, and the smart button is intuitive for easy navigation. The dual speakers deliver surprisingly good sound for its size, perfect for listening to audiobooks or podcasts, and the microphones work well for voice commands. Plus, the battery life is amazing—it lasts for days without needing a charge, thanks to the energy-efficient ePaper screen. Overall, the BOOX Palma 2 is a versatile, high-quality device that combines great reading features with extra functionality, making it well worth the investment. ... show more

  • Not user friendly. Horrible Functionality.
Color: White
I purchased the worthless white BOOX PALMA 2. If you are using this product for READING ONLY….get a Kindle basic along with LIBBY/HOOPLA etc. the setting of each individual setting every time you use device is ridiculous. Too much this and that just to read a book!!! A lot of ghosting. Too much resetting with each use. It’s like having a cell phone in your hand. Too small for my liking. And let’s not mention the PRICE!! OMG!! I kept it for a week and returned. Not for “me”. You do you if you just “want” this thing. It’s definitely not a “need”! It may be “purse” size like a cell phone, but my kindle basic travel the same. So, imo, worthless and cheaply made. I “thought” I wanted this based if Tik Tok views. I was WRONG!! Beware….functionality and lag is horrible!!!! Trust me, a lot of these devices will be returned. ... show more

  • Kindle who?
Color: White
I absolutely love this thing. It has the same form factor as my phone, is lighter weight than my kindle, I have KOreader on it, and I can add other apps I like to use like my journal app or sudoku. It’s a perfect respite away from lcd screens and phone notifications. It’s definitely not a phone, and you shouldn’t expect it to be one. But as an eink device it’s awesome. I use it everyday and it took about 6 days for the battery to get to 20% from the 80% it arrived charged at. I have all but abandoned my Kindles, which for the last 10 years have been my pride and joy. I can’t imagine going anywhere without my Palma 2 at this point. I have it on me more often than my phone even, and I’m reading more than I ever have before. If you aren’t sure, this is your sign to go ahead and pull the trigger. For reference, Palma 1 cases do fit the Palma 2, but cover up the fingerprint reader in the power button. So if you are planning to use that feature (not required unless you set it up) opt for the official cases, or alternatively buy a Palma 1 case that you can cut the power button cover out of. Otherwise, the Palma 1 cases fit great on the Palma 2 (as long as you don’t plan to use the fingerprint reader). ... show more

  • Great concept; poor quality control
Color: White
The software is well-optimized for an e-ink display, and the hardware offers a good balance of size and weight. However, the device suffers from significant quality control issues. The first unit I received had an uneven frontlight, with the top half showing a subtle but noticeable difference in shade compared to the bottom. The second unit had a misaligned screen that slanted slightly upward when viewing content from left to right. Now, I’m left deciding whether to keep one of these or gamble on a third replacement. ... show more

  • Read this to save yourself a headache
Color: White
After many hours of frustration, I finally have the device fully operational with all of the apps that I want. It left a bad first impression but I’m starting to move past that. Cons: -Don’t confuse “dual speakers” with “stereo speakers.” The top speaker only functions when on a call. But who is going to make calls on this device? It’s not a cellphone so I had to do a test Skype call to figure out that’s what it was for. -Bluetooth wouldn’t play audio. I had to search for the longest time before I realized I had to turn off HD audio then the audio played. -Can’t listen to audio with screen locked or else you will drain your battery. My battery was draining 5-6% per hour even when not in use. Overnight the battery went from 97% to 44%. WiFi was off and Bluetooth was off so I was scratching my head trying to figure out what was happening. Turns out it was because I had set “Delay disconnecting audio after sleep” to “never” so that I could continue listening to audiobooks while the device was locked. Even though no audio was playing and no apps were even running at all. I turned this to “immediately” and now my battery doesn’t even lose 1% overnight. -The sound quality is bad through the speaker but I was expecting that. It’s not terrible, though. -Apps often don’t work because you have to go into settings and fiddle with things. I don’t understand why I can’t just install them, open them, and use them. Several apps required me changing permissions or other settings. There were no alerts as to why the apps weren’t working so this was frustrating. -ChatGPT voice mode does not work. The transcription it shows will be correct but it will start talking about something completely random. -I wish I could delete most of the apps that are preinstalled. -I still don’t understand the file management. When I try to save something it wants me to put it in either a “share nearby” folder or an “Onyx” folder. I have to hit the back button to see the DCIM, Documents, etc. folders. But it seems like there are two sets of system folders in different locations. Some documents got saved into “Documents” in one location and other files got saved into another “Documents” folder somewhere else. -The fingerprint reader is finicky and often takes a few tries even after setting up the same finger a few times as different profiles. -Reading PDFs feels cramped but epub files look great. -The swiping gestures to go to the Home Screen, open the e-ink settings, app tray, notifications, and settings are often not recognized and I have to do them a few times to get it to work. Pros: -Battery life is great. I only have to charge it about once a week. (I don’t connect to WiFi everyday) -The e-ink is gorgeous (if an app/text looks ugly, set it to HD mode.) -Every app I wanted to install on it works well except ChatGPT voice mode. -It’s about the same size as my iPhone 16 Pro Max but it is significantly lighter so it’s easy to hold for long periods. -I was worried that reading on this screen would feel too cramped for reading but I was surprised to discover it didn’t feel that way, at all (except for PDFs, as stated above). -It’s small enough to take with me wherever I go. -Hardware feels sturdy and of good quality. I mostly use this for language learning. I have a translation app, a flash card app, reading app, a bunch of ebooks in the language I’m learning, an app for audiobooks, OneDrive, and few other things. I love that I can comfortably study or read in the sun without straining my eyes and overheating my phone. I know I listed a lot of cons above but I have really enjoyed owning this device. ... show more
