make sure unit is off when dis/connecting line to clip you can get zapped if you come close to the metal spring. All in all it's keeping goats in and separated!!

I really like this charger. I love that it comes with an easy to replace battery. I love that it comes with nice connectors The battery it ever so slightly fidgety to get to sit right in the slot, but not bad. I also wish the indicator light was on the front to make it easier to see, but really these are very minor things. I have it on a 42inch tall X 169ft long electric netting setup for my pigs and i will say it hits hard enough that they don't challenge it. ... show more

Not horrible actually but it didn’t work very well for our 6 pigmy goats. Honestly I would recommend more for pigs(kune kune). It’s built very well and does EXACTLY what it says. My issue is more with the reviews. If the goats really want out…goats are out bc it didn’t hit strong enough I guess. We used it with net and wire and they just weren’t afraid of it that much. I’m a master electrician so all of the grounding stuff is covered. We went with a different charger for our goats but we still use this on our pigs, with 2 strands snout high. ... show more

This item came with a broken plastic door hinge that curved over the poles on either side and also acts as the hinge for the door over the battery. This Helios Minu 400 also sounds like it has a piece of metal loose inside. The door over the battery is very poorly designed and it is difficult to get the battery seated and the door closed. The company was responsive and gave me partial. Amazon credit. They did not offer to replace it. I repaired the door hinge and attempted to use it. It does not seem to charge up with the solar panel. I am attempting to plug it in overnight to Dc and check it. Not impressed. I will revise review if I can get it working. ... show more

I've owned 3 solar and 3 electric fence chargers prior to this and they seem to work for a short time and then die/quit working. They also somewhat work for my dogs. My dogs have a tendency to go under the wires or between them because the shock was very mild. When I first set this new solar pack up, I accidentally hit the fence and it made one heck of a shock. My dogs have since bumped the wires a few times and have NOT gotten out of the fence since. This thing works better then all my other ones combined. I just hope it last for a while. I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase and my dogs will fully agree that this things works. My son was used to the mild shock the previous ones put out and his first introduction to the new solar pack caused him to scream out and he said he about peed his pants. You can't argue with that!
