    • This is no toy!
The saw arrived on time, well packed and in a hard plastic travel container. I opened it and was impressed by its solid and quality appearance. No, no it isn't a Stihl, but hey, this thing cost me less than $50.00! With a saw its all about the cutting. I had several trees growing in the ground for bonsai use. There were many branches, up the 3 to 4 inches in diameter which need to be removed to greatly shorten the trees. I went at it holding the saw with one had as I had problems with the other. Man, this thing works! Those branches went down like magic, the saw easily cutting thru them. It is a powerful saw and with a strong arm/hand can be handled one-handed. No doubt two is better, but not necessary. Now, the one thing I noticed quickly is that the saw does not have an internal reservoir to hold bar chain oil. I regard that as a negative because chain saws need lube on the chain to the bar for longevity and proper cutting. I bought a spray can of heavy Liquid Wrench at the auto parts store and frequent sprays to the chain worked well. I think WD 40, good as it is, may be too light for this purpose. Some have actual bar/chain oil in an oil can and lube the chain that way. My early vintage Ryobi chain saw has a built in reservoir for lube, but it has always leaked and the pump system to dispense the lube does not work well. I must spray the chain on the Ryobi just as I do this saw. The batteries are powerful with a long cutting life. Charging is slow, more than the 2 hrs claimed in my experience. One must be mindful that this is a small saw with many limitations. Wanna cut wood for your fireplace? I doubt this saw is the answer. But have a home garden or lot with some trees that need to be trimmed, or clearing brush and you want to cut up to 4 to 5 inch diameter, you might consider this saw.     • Cuts great and has a long battery life
I have been using this for about two months. The battery charge lasted about 1 1/2 months of that. I was surprised how long the battery lasted. It ran for about 30 minutes of actual cutting. I've been using it on green and dead oak and ash branches. It cuts it all easily. It makes cutting up large branches into smaller sections to run through my shredder an easy job. Much better than using a lopper. The one-handed operation makes cutting up long branches for firewood easy and is much more convenient than using a sawbuck and a bigger saw. When I got it I thought the 4" bar might be too small, but it works just fine. A 6" bar would be more than necessary and would have cost 50% more. I thought the guard might get in the way but so far it has not. The kit comes with the saw, two batteries, charger, three chains, adjustment tools, oil bottle, safety glasses, and gloves, in a plastic storage box. So far I am using this little saw more than any others. Note that the battery takes a long time to recharge, about 2 1/2 hours. Update Sep 2024: Still going strong, although the batteries run out a little bit sooner than when new. Cuts everything that will fit including large hard oak branches that have been dead 20 years. Let it cool off once in a while when making big cuts. It is awkward to use left-handed because the trigger safety button is on the left side. The chain has no brake, so be sure to let the chain stop before moving away from a cut, it spins for a second or so after you release the switch. ... show more

    • Love this little saw!
I bought this little saw to prune a row of small trees on our property and I wish I had bought it a few years ago as I have been hand pruning, which is very time consuming. I prefer a natural prune vs a hedge look & this is perfect for this. I was a little apprehensive prior to buying a power tool for this as I don't have great upper body strength but this is so lightweight, I can easily cut with one hand & stabilize branch with the other. I have found that you can use it on bigger branches than advertised by cutting from both sides, (which was a pleasant surprise) and it is small enough that you can work within a canopy of a tree or shrub with fair maneuverability. I have not run out of battery power yet but I love that it comes with two battery packs so you can use the one while charging the other, which is what I've been doing. I have used this saw every day for the past week and a half and have only encountered one issue so far, which I'd seen mentioned in previous reviews, pertaining to it being only right-handed as it is near impossible to use left-handed. However, you can usually work around it, if space allows. Also, I have not found it to be effective on small branch projects,( i.e.as a hedge trimmer) but those can easily be hand pruned. I would highly recommend this saw. One other plus for me is that it is not really loud, as so many power tools are, a real plus for me. The only reason I gave it only 4 out of 5 is that I have only had it 2 weeks so I don't know if there will be issues in the future; but hopefully not & if it's still running strong several months from now, I will come back & add a star. ... show more
